Year 3 Monday 8.2.21

Good morning and welcome to the last week of this term! It has been a rollercoaster ride but you guys have made it all worthwhile. A huge thank you to the grown ups as you are amazing supporting us in school, your children at home and juggling work. The Year 3 team really appreciate everything you have done.

Year 6 have requested a TTR battle with all of Key Stage 2. Come on Year 3 step up to the challenge and smash it!!

Monday 8

What’s wrong with this picture?

English/Reading:

Here is a suitcase of 6 props and 6 names which you should recognise.

Here is a closer look at the props inside (love heart with a message, ring, law book, hat, necklace and some text messages on a phone) and you need to take a close look at each prop and decide who they belong to. The name labels are below. Take your time.

Once you have decided you need to infer why each prop links to the person from the play.

For example: I infer that the ………………………. belongs to ………………………………… because…………………………………………………..

So you need to write 6 sentences similar to these to show you are inferring (making good guesses using what you know about the play)

Writing:

There is the opening and ending of the first part of the story but the rest of the words have fallen off the page. Can you write the part of the story that is missing and use the props and the characters from the reading activity to help you? We know the story opens in Athens with Egeus taking Hermia court and ends up to the point the lovers flee but can you retell the missing part of the story.

Remember:

  • write in past tense
  • use the characters from the reading to help
  • try to use some of the language you remember from Midsummer Night’s dream.
  • if someone is talking remember ” ” (speech punctuation)
  • Remember to stop the story where it says ‘The lovers fled.’ (DON’T GO ANY FURTHER – WE WILL BE LOOKING AT THIS TOMORROW!)
  • use the props to help tell the story.

If you need some reminders visit: https://www.bbc.co.uk/teach/class-clips-video/english-a-midsummer-nights-dream-index/z6rcgwx (Part 1 will help but write in your own words – PLEASE DON’T COPY!)

Year 4 have been playing this game so Mrs. B decided to take a look. After some help from her daughter, it turned out to be so much fun. It’s an English game on spelling, punctuation etc. Have a go!

Online safety:

We have learnt this half term about how to be safe on the Internet and how we can use the Internet with a positive and sensible attitude. When we text, use online games, educational websites, watch videos on YouTube, post on our blogs, send emails, apps, listen to music online and research on the Internet, we leave a digital footprint. A digital footprint helps us build a picture of what kind of person you are online.

Here is an example:

We sure you can find lots of ways you have used the Internet safely and the apps you use. Here is a template to help you create your own digital footprint.

History:

Prepare to be disgusted by Roman eating habits and their diet!

I infer that the ancient rule of Athens book belongs to Duke, Theseus because he has to tell Hermia with the rule of Athens.
I infer that the phone belongs to Helena, because she wrote the last message.
I infer that the pearls belong to Hermia, because Lysander gives her gifts.
I infer that the note belongs to Lysander because he said that.
I infer that the hat belongs to Egeus because father’s wear old fashioned hats.
I infer that the ring belongs to Demetrius Because he might ask Hermia to marry him.

I am sure that the necklace belongs to her Hermia because she’s a lady and she might like 💍🧡💎. The phone 📱 belongs to Helena because Helena likes to text Demetrious Just to see if he likes her more. The ring 💍 belongs to Lysander because maybe he wants to propose to Hermia. The book that says the laws of ancient Athens is for a Theseus. The hat 🎩 is for Egeus because he might like wearing 🎩.
