Lings Virtual Sports Day Week!

Tomorrow is the start of the Youth Sports Trust National School Sports Week. Since we cannot run our traditional sports day this year, we have decided to have a Virtual Sports Day, split over the next seven days. There will be one event/ game to play each day which can be completed at home or at school. We have attached a timetable of events so you can see the upcoming events.

How will this work for children at home?

  • Each morning Mr Davies or Mrs Davies will produce a video explaining the event along with a demonstration, which we will post on our social media channels and blogs.
  • The children will then complete the task and put their scores into the recording sheet, which is attached to the timetable.
  • We would also ask if possible, to send in videos and pictures to the PE email (pe@lingsprimary.org.uk) daily
  • This will be repeated for each day.
  • At the end on the week children will have until Monday 29th June to send their completed form to the PE email (pe@lingsprimary.org.uk)

How will this work for children in school?

  • Each morning Mr Davies or Mrs Davies will produce a video explaining the event along with a demonstration, which we will post on our social media channels and blogs.
  • We would like staff to use break, lunchtimes or afternoon sessions to get their groups to complete the activities. Recording their scores and emailing them over to PE email with the activity name as the subject.
  • If it is possible, we would also like some pictures/ videos also sent over.

How will points be scored?

  • Each activity a child completes will gain 1 point for their house.
  • 1st, 2nd & 3rd place in each key stage will also gain bonus points of 15, 10 & 5.
  • 1st 2nd & 3rd place for most improved score (over their 3 attempts) in each key stage will also gain bonus points of 15, 10 & 5.
  • Teachers can also attempt the challenges and will gain points for their houses as well.

How/ When will the winner be announced?

  • All participation points from children in school will be allocated daily by Mr Davies and Mrs Davies.
  • All participation points from children at home will be allocated after we have received a completed recording sheet.
  • All bonus points for most improved scores and best scores will be allocated to their houses after the submission deadline.
  • We will aim to announce the winner on Friday 3rd July.

Get involved, help you house and let’s see which house can win our first ever virtual sports day.

If you have any questions, feel free to send them to the PE email address (pe@lingsprimary.org.uk).
