PSHE – Thursday 14th January

In today’s lesson you will learn about a range of jobs carried out by people and explore how much people can earn by doing these different jobs. You will also learn to appreciate the contribution made by people in different jobs. This means that you will know what those people do and why it is important.

Below are some job cards. Your first task is to put those jobs in what you think is their order of importance. Think about why you feel that some jobs are more important than others.

Next, you are going to think about the salary for each of these jobs. A salary is the amount of money you earn, in this case over a year.

Here are the salaries for each job. Can you match them to the correct job?

£26,000, £32,000, £24,000, £22,000, £21,000, £18,000, £39,000, £71,000, £9,000, £14,000, £44,000, £14,000, £40,000, £20,000, £27,000, £676,000.

Then, in this video, you can find out the correct salary for each job.

Write about:

  1. Who earns the most and why this might be?
  2. Are the salaries for each job fair?
  3. Who contributes the most to society? (this means who does the most for people).
  4. Who should earn the most based on the job they do?
  5. Which three jobs do you think contribute the most to society?

You should write at least 100 words all together.

You should spend at least 45 minutes on this.

The most important job is actually a key worker. And they only get payed about £50 if your lucky maybe a bit more if that and I know that because my mum is a keyworker. And I learnt that from my mum.

The footballer earns by far the most and it is fair because they run for 90-120 mins 1-3 times a week across a pitch that is from (length) 90-128m (Width) 60-75m so they deserve thier salary. Then pilots. Pilots have a riskful and serious job. They are responsible for 1-1000 peoples lives because he could’ve crashed the plane at any moment and he would lose his life. Doctors and vets also have a riskful job because if the operation goes wrong the person/pet who had the operation would die. Nurses are important because they give tools to the vets/doctors and they help them.

      Hello Max

Do you think that footballers are the only talented people on the list?

Isn’t it interesting that doctors and nurses are in a lot of your answers?

    Singer £40,000
    Football £44,000

Who earns the most and why this might be? A footballer but i don’t know why. It’s too much money to just play football. Doctors and charities look after people more than footballers.
Are the salaries for each job fair? No, not at all.
Who contributes the most to society? (this means who does the most for people). Doctors, nurses, firefighters, teachers and charity workers contribute more to society because they help people.
Who should earn the most based on the job they do? Nurses, doctors, firefighters and charity workers.
Which three jobs do you think contribute the most to society? Doctors, firefighters and charity workers.

    1. Footballer as people pay to watch the games and the money gets sent to the footballers.
    2. NO as the people who help people get the least money and the people who don’t help others get a fortune.
    3. Doctors and nurses as they help people and get the most dangerous jobs.
    4. Doctors as they are very hard working.
    5. I would say doctors, firemen and teachers as they are the most important jobs in history.

Footballers earn the most money due to the public buying tickets, membership and merchandise such as football kits, clothes and accessories etc.
I think that emergency care workers such as doctors, nurses, police officers, fire fighters and army should earn more money because they risk their own lives to save others.
I would still want to be a footballer when i grow up not just for the money but because i enjoy the sport and for the fans.
