Year 1 (Home Learning) – Tuesday 5th January
Welcome back (to online learning) Year 1!
Happy New Year!
We hope that you have had a wonderful and fun-filled winter break at home with your families.
We would have much rather welcomed your smiley faces back into our classrooms this week than be doing our learning from home but we also know that this is the safest option for all of us and we must carry on being superheroes by staying at home for now.
We would like to welcome Mrs Billingham to the Year 1 Team this term – who will be working alongside Mrs Roberts. She is excited to get to know the children and see how fabulous they all are!
As we already had to isolate for two weeks last term, you will be familiar with the format of Year 1 Home Learning.
There will be a daily Zoom registration @ 10:40am, during which a member of the Year 1 Team will greet the children and discuss the activities for the day ahead.
The expectation is for children to be on the daily Zoom registration and engaging with the set activities – Phonics, Literacy, Maths and Art.
Parents can email children’s work across to their class teacher at: yearone@lingsprimary.org.uk
Here are your activities for the day:
Phonics
Here is a clip of Mrs Tucker showing you how we teach Phonics at Lings:

Literacy/Science
Learning Objectives:
I know what a weather forecast is.
I can create my own word bank of weather vocabulary.
Watch a weather report … what’s a weather forecast?
What’s the weather going to be like today?
What do some of the words/phrases mean? E.g. ‘sunny spells’ … ‘frosty’ … ‘showers’ … ect.
Go outside and observe the weather conditions.
What can you see? What can you hear? What can you feel?
Create your own word bank of ideas to describe the weather today. You will need your word bank to support your writing tomorrow!

Hi miss Simon
Would it be possible to have a home learning pack made up for molly-mae? I’m finding it difficult to do the work online as I have 3 other children needing to use a computer,
Many thanks kelly.
Hello Mrs Marlow,
Thank you for getting in touch. Of course you can. I will leave a home learning pack for you in the office – with work in for this week.
We can provide you with a further pack next week.
Hope this helps,
Miss Simons 🙂

Hi Michelle,
Of course you can. We are still in the process of working out the best way to provide the Home Learning Packs on a long-term basis, so the Home Learning Pack we have currently will only include work for this week. If you would still like the pack for this week, I shall leave one for you in the office. Please knock on the Office window from outside.
Many thanks,
Miss Simons 🙂
Hi Michelle,
I have left a pack for Evie in the Home Learning box just inside the Doors to the school – hope this helps!
Miss Simons 🙂
