Thursday 11th June – Year 6
Writing:
Today I would like you to create an information leaflet from the topic that you researched yesterday.
Things to think about:
– How will you set it out?
– What headings/sub-headings will you use?
– What pictures/drawings are you going to include?
– Does any of it need to be in a particular order?
When you have finished, use this checklist to help you edit your leaflet.
– Would someone who knew nothing about your topic, learn something after reading your leaflet?
– Is it eye-catching?
– Is it easy to read and understand?
– Have you included questions to hook the reader?
– Does the title make it clear what the leaflet is about?
Maths:
Today we will be looking at mixed numbers and improper fractions. Do you remember what they are?
Go through this PowerPoint to remind yourself what they are and how we convert between them.
Mixed Numbers and Improper Fractions
First try converting these improper fractions to mixed numbers.
Now check your answers:
Now try converting these mixed numbers into improper fractions.
Check your answers.
Art:
Have a look through the videos on this link:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/z47fvk7
Using what you have just learnt and your work on point perspective drawing and abstract art, can you create a piece of art that combines at least 2 different styles?
Some examples that you could try:
– Draw a street scene using one point perspective and collage to decorate it
– Use abstract to show a feeling and add printing to create a focus point.
– Maybe you could create a storyboard using different styles of art to show each part of the story.
Send me your creations.
Other tasks you could do today:
- Go to https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/group/p08b0ct7 and watch a Shakespeare play for free.
- Go to Saints TV on YouTube and watch an old Saints game.
- Complete some activities on your NPAT Reading Bingo challenge
- Go on a virtual tour of Buckingham Palace and learn about royal history at https://www.royal.uk/virtual-tours-buckingham-palace

- Go on a virtual tour of Ancient Mayan ruins at http://sunfunnelmedia.com/pano/xunantunich/Xunantunich-belize-mayan-ruin-pyramid-virtual-tour.html

- Create a garden scavenger hunt that all of your family can take part in. It could be as simple as find a stick, find a red insect or you could create clues that they have to follow to find the ‘treasure’.

Leaflet;
Winnie-the-pooh
Did you know that Winnie the pooh was invented at the time 1926 followed by The house at pooh corner, And the person that had actually made Winnie the pooh is.. A.A Milne And that all the characters in Winnie the pooh have a disorder!! And I will tell you what disorders the characters have..
First off;
Eeyore has a disorder called “Depression” And what that means is he is basically down in the dumps all the time..
Roo has the disorder of “Anxiety” which means he is anxious..
Winnie has two different disorders and they are called “A.D.H.D and OCD” and what A.D.H.D means is he is very hyper and even naughty sometimes next OCD means EVERYTHING has to be clean..
Tigger has “A.D.H.D” as well as Winnie but Tigger is worse because he is always jumping and bouncing around on his good old tail..
Rabbit has the disorder called “Anxiety” just like Roo..
Owl is “Dyslexic” and that means all sorts of things..
Kanga {Roo’s mum] and she “Anxiety”
Now I’ll talk more abut Winnie the pooh the actual story,
so basically in the story there are a few more characters but never or less Winnie the pooh is a nice calming story that help people with disorders and disabilities so if the children went over the top with their problems they could come and put Winnie the pooh on TV and I think they would calm down a bit and also Winnie the pooh is not just for people that have disorders and all that important stuff, And Winnie-the-pooh is a movie as well!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Some great research Archie. Make sure you always put the research into your own words.
