Good morning Year 5,

Grammar
Today we are going to look at expanded noun phrases. The following link will act as revision:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zwwp8mn/articles/z3nfw6f
The noun can be expanded by more than just an adjective though. Noun = girl. This can then be expanded with an adjective: ‘the tall girl’ is a simple expanded noun phrase. ‘the tall girl by the wall’ would be a more complex expanded noun phrase.
This is explained more here:
Task 1 – Have a go at the following (you can just blog the underlined bit):
Task 2 – Complete the following (I know that this was our them last week but never mind!):
t2-e-3695-expanded-noun-phrases-activity-sheets-_ver_5 Under the Sea Expanded Noun Phrases Activity Sheet

This week we are going to look at how chocolate is made and the processes the raw materials go through to end up as the chocolate that we all enjoy today. Chocolate is made from cocoa beans which come from the cocoa (or cacao) tree.
Today, we are just going to focus on the first few stages of this process – how the beans are grown and what the farmers do with them.
Read the following:
Have a look at the following video:
Write a brief explanation about what you learnt from the clip and the reading. What are the first 3 stages?

The coca beans come from the coco tree. There are 3 stages to get a coca bean. First you have to harvest the coca beans it takes place twice a year from November to January and May to July. Next is the fermentation here you have to they are put in a fermentation box they are heated in this box. Finally is the drying this is when they are dried so they don’t contain much water as they can’t have much water in them to be turned into chocolate.
Hi Lydia,
Thank you for this. Well done for including the correct terminology – harvesting, fermenting, drying.
