Reception Home Learning – Tuesday 2nd February

Good morning

So yesterday we found out that A Midsummer Night’s Dream is set in a magical forest and we used some exciting words to describe it.  And we found out that describing words are called adjectives.  In the play, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, living in the forest are fairies. There is the King of the fairies called Oberon and his wife Titania is Queen.  Working for the King is a very mischievous fairy called Puck who plays all sorts of tricks and he makes mischief wherever he goes … Oberon and Titania often have arguments – you can meet them here:

In school Mrs Tucker found a box with some special things in…

Who do you think these two might be?

We will meet Puck in our Literacy lesson but first let’s start with our phonics lessons.

Literacy

Let’s meet Puck – the mischievous fairy whose magic often goes wrong and Oberon the King of the Fairies.

And here is our little Puck who is going to come into Nightingale and Hargreaves classes.  I hope he doesn’t cause us any mischief!

And this is Titania, Queen of the fairies.  We need to help Puck by thinking of some words to describe her!  She likes to read lots of words and Puck needs our help to think of some more!  He can only think of the word nice.  Can you think of some words exciting words to describe her and ask your grown ups to help you to write them down?  You can put them with your list of words that you used to describe the forest as we will use them later on in the week in your writing.

Maths

Starter – https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/early-years/week-3/

Choose session 2 to make some more patterns.  You will need some objects to make patterns with such as knives and forks or lego bricks and toy cars.

Main – some more fairy addition for you to enjoy.  Can you help Puck add together and count the leaves that are going to be made into fairy wings?

Physical Development

Please see today’s other post for PE lessons and challenges.  In addition we have Harrison with another exercise to strengthen your hands.  For this one you will need elastic bands.

Story

One of Mrs Whitestone’s favourite fairy stories.

Have a lovely day – let’s hope Puck doesn’t get up to any mischief!
