Good morning Year 6 – nearly the weekend again!

See you at 9:05 am on Zoom!

Warm up challenge (15 minutes)

Reading (20 minutes)

Today’s reading lesson is going to be a bit of a quiz!

I want you to test your knowledge of A Midsummer Night’s Dream by answering the following questions is as much detail as you can.

You are allowed to look back at previous work to hep you if you need to.

  1. Why has Egeus brought his daughter to see Theseus? What does Egeus expect him to do?
  2. What is Theseus’ decision?
  3. What do Lysander and Hermia plan to do?
  4. Why do they tell Helena their plan?
  5. Who does Helena tell?
  6. What does the reader find out about the current relationship between Oberon, King of the Fairies, and Titania, Queen of the Fairies?
  7. What effect has their argument had on nature, on the seasons, on humans?
  8. Why won’t Titania give up the changeling to Oberon?
  9. What does Oberon send Puck to find?
  10. What are Oberon’s plans for Titania?
  11. What does Oberon tell Puck to do about Demetrius and Helena?
  12. Why does Oberon want Titania to wake and fall in love with some vile thing?
  13. Why does Puck anoint Lysander’s eyes?
  14. How does Helena react to Lysander’s sudden love for her when he awakens?

Writing (45 minutes)

We are going to continue on our work with balanced arguments by looking at the conclusion or ending.

Look through the information on the PowerPoint

Conclusion

Now I am going to show you some examples of different conclusions – what key features can you spot?

In conclusion, there are advantages and disadvantages about wearing uniform AND wearing ordinary clothes to school. On balance, although I hated wearing school uniform myself, I think there are probably more arguments in favour of school uniform. They do stop arguments in the playground, they do make life easier for busy parents, but most of all they let children get on with being children because they’re not worried about messing their nice clothes up.

In conclusion, I personally think Zoos should be kept open. They can keep animals healthy, feed them when they need food and stop their extinction. Animals that live within zoos often have an extended life span compared to animals in the wild. This has to prove how zoos can benefit animals! I would like the next generation to be able to see the animals we see today in zoos and ensure that no other animals have to become extinct. Will we be able to guarantee the preservation of all species for the future in the wild? I feel that zoos are the safest, easiest and supportive way of ensuring the continuation of all animals.

Overall, it could be said that being a child is much better than being an adult simply because it is a lot more fun and you don’t have to be serious all the time. In contrast, some people might also say that being an adult is better because you don’t have to go to bed early and you get to do whatever you feel like doing. Which do you think is better? I wonder, who will you vote for?

I feel that footballers do deserve a good wage, as they do generate a lot of money for the clubs. But I do disagree with how much they earn. Nobody can justify half a million pounds a week for playing football, whilst paramedics (whose job it is to save people’s lives in an emergency) would need to work for 20 years to make the same amount!

What do you think?

What do you notice?

Are there lots of features in common?

Which person are they usually written in?

Now it is over to you.

Write a conclusion for the balanced argument:

Should children be allowed on social media?

He brought her to Theseus because she refuses to marry Demetrius.
That Hermia has to listen to her father
    Run away
So she can cover for them
    Demetrius
    That they are arguing
Everything has gone dark and no crops can grow
Because she doesnt want to give her changeling to him
    Because they are both stubborn
    A love flower
He wants her to fall in love with a wild animal
To but the flower in his eye and when he wakes up he will se Helena
    Because she wont obey him
Because he did not know who was who
She is angry because she thinks he is joking

In conclusion I think children should be allowed on (SOME) social media but there is a good explanation for no Social media could be dangerous for everyone but if they are on social media they have a bigger imagination. With a worse way of meeting friends because online because people could be anyone through a computer. But you could see fascinating things and you could learn a lot of things this is why over the years the choice of children not being allowed on social media or they can will always be different

I think children should be aloud on social media only essentials like tracking apps for parents phone and massages and maybe 1 or 2 games that you are old enough for and your phone should be monitored by an adult .There is more than 100 possibilities that you can be in very great danger from social media [SO BE CAREFULL]
