Year 3 Home learning Magnificent Monday 18.1.21
Good morning everyone, we hope you had a lovely weekend! Welcome to a new and exciting week of home learning. Mrs Denny has recovered from the horrors of last week and all the mess has been tidied up. Let’s hope those naughty fairies leave her alone from now on! Ok, let’s crack on!
Remember that your grown ups can reach us at the Year 3 email if they need us. We will always try our best to help with any queries.
English/ Reading:
The play/ story of Midsummer Night’s Dream moves to Athens in Ancient Greece. If you click the link below, it explores Ancient Greece and if you click on the names/ nouns of places they will give you more information. Take some time to explore Ancient Greece.
https://www.dkfindout.com/uk/history/ancient-greece/athens/
To answer the questions you will need to click on the place or person to find the answer.
- What is the name of the statue in Parthenon?
- What two places will you find within Acropolis?
- If you click on Acropolis, where would you find the god of drama?
- if you click on food and clothing and then the red link to What ancient Greeks ate? What animal supplied the cheese and milk?
- Click on ‘Women’ and then the red link to ‘Women in Ancient Greece.’ What three things did women do in Ancient Greece?
Writing
Using the same link from reading we are going to create a carpet of words like we did in Week 1:
- use one colour to write down five nouns/ places you could see – you can click on areas to explore other nouns e.g. Statute, sanctuary
- use another colour and the magic rule of three to write down three adjectives for each of nouns – try not to use colours, click on the areas/ nouns to help build descriptions
- use another colour to write down a fronted adverbial for where, imagine you are there and not describing where things are in the picture… e.g. Next to the… In the centre, On the hill…
Take a picture of your carpet of words and email them to us. Keep hold of your carpet of words as you will need them for tomorrow.
Here is an example below:
Blue are the nouns, red are the fronted adverbials for where and green for the three adjectives.

HISTORY
Britain 🇬🇧 used to be a lovely place but the Romans took over.
There is a bit more to it than that Alia. The Celts had small settlements, tribes ruled by kings/queens and mostly farmed. The Romans came and tried to civilize them with public baths, decent roads and government.

Great work Sameera. For number 2 you need to work out how to split 40 into 10 equal groups, so you need to use the calculation 40 divided by 10 to get your answer. The missing answer for question 3 would be 50 divided by 5. Can you tell me what this equals?
For number 5 you need to work out which card goes in which box to give the correct answer. Have a play around with the order of the cards and see what order you need to put them in to give you a correct answer. For example you could put 4 divided by 40 = 10, but that wouldn’t be right would it! So what would you put? Take your time and have another go 🙂

Instead they would stay home and weave, make clothes and cook. Have another look at questions 1,2 and 3. If you follow the instructions on the blog it will take you to the right information 🙂
