Literacy

Learning Objectives:

  • I can gather some ideas and look at pictures to decide what sort of fairy I might be.
  • I can say what I might wear and what I would look like.
  • I can create a word bank and/or draw a picture and label it with my ideas.

Last week we looked at a magical forest and on Friday you wrote about who you thought would be living in the forest.
We can tell you now that this magical forest is the setting of our story called,
A Midsummer Night’s Dream by William Shakespeare.

Living in the forest are fairies. There is the King of the fairies called Oberon and his wife Titania is Queen.
Working for the King is a very mischievous fairy called Puck who plays all sorts of tricks and he makes mischief wherever he goes … I do hope he doesn’t move into the school!

Today we would like you to start thinking about what a fairy is … are all fairies good? Can fairies be boys as well as girls?   Can a fairy be brave and strong?

If you were a fairy, what would you be like?
Your task today is to start gathering ideas to invent your fairy character.
You will be writing about your character tomorrow.
I’ve got some pictures to help you get started …

Here is a trailer the children could also watch of the Disney movie, Epic that has male fairies and some great ideas for costumes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_KqNCnd8AN4

Science

FAO: Parents and Carers

In this unit, pupils will learn the names of everyday materials.

They firstly need to understand the difference between an object and the material that it is made from.

Children will observe the material of a range of objects and use comparative and grouping skills to demonstrate their knowledge.

Children,

Watch this virtual lesson on Materials (start video @ 5:13):

https://classroom.thenational.academy/lessons/what-is-a-material-74u30t?step=1&activity=video

There are activities to complete after the video – you do not have to complete these but feel free to have a go if you want to!

We would like you to look around your house and see whether you can find

at least 1 object for each of the following materials:

  • Paper
  • Plastic
  • Metal
  • Glass
  • Wood

You can draw and/or write to show your findings.

Story Time

Have a fantastic day,
