Year 1 (Home Learning) – Thursday 26th November

Hi Year 1,

We are so very proud of you all for working so hard whilst you have been learning from home.

It has put big smiles on our faces to see all of your wonderful creations and hard work, and we have enjoyed seeing so many of you on Zoom @ 9:30am for our registration each morning.

The expectation is to email your work to us each day at: yearone@lingsprimary.org.uk

Please remember to keep all of your work, as the Year 1 teachers would like to make a display of all your hard work when we return to school!

Phonics

Here is a clip of Mrs Tucker showing you how we teach Phonics at Lings:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ioLx3wtKcs

We teach Phonics in groups in Year 1 – Miss Simons, Mrs Brookes/Mrs Roberts and Mrs Sargent each have a Phonics group.

Ask your child which Phonics group they are in and follow the appropriate planning below.
If you are unsure of which Phonics group they are in, then please email us at: yearone@lingsprimary.org.uk

Literacy

What will Mrs Armitage get up to today?

Read the next pages of the story to find out …

Oh dear … Mrs Armitage now has a problem! How would you help her and Breakspear to stay dry?

Any ideas what she could add to her bicycle?

Today we would like you to write a few sentences and draw a picture of what you think would keep Mrs Armitage and Breakspear dry.

I wonder if your solution to the problem will be the same as Mrs Armitage’s?

Remember … no idea is wrong as anything can happen in a story!

We look forward to seeing what you come up with! Remember to write in full sentences – using capital letters, spaces between words and full stops.

Challenge: Can you use the word ‘because’ to explain your ideas.

Maths

Activity 1:

To get us warmed up, we are going to explore how many ‘tens’ and ‘ones’ are in a range of 2-digit numbers.

Follow the link below to watch some clips/complete some short activities on place value:
