Good Morning Year 1,

Phonics

Here is a clip of Mrs Tucker showing you how we teach Phonics at Lings:

We teach Phonics in groups in Year 1 – Miss Simons, Mrs Brookes/Mrs Roberts and Mrs Sargent each have a Phonics group.

Ask your child which Phonics group they are in and follow the appropriate planning below.
If you are unsure of which Phonics group they are in, then please email us at: yearone@lingsprimary.org.uk

Literacy

This the book we are going to look at this week in literacy:

Can you identify the front cover and the title?

What do think the book is going to be about?

Shall we read the blurb on the back to see what it tells us? …

Can you read these first few pages?

Why do you think Mrs Armitage might need a loud horn? How is this going to help her?

Your task for today is to write two sentences to tell us what you think!

Challenge: can you use a ‘because’ in your sentence?

Maths

Mrs Armitage went to the bicycle shops and counted how many blue bikes there were.

She counted four (4) bikes.

How many wheels were there all together on the four (4) blue bicycles?

Can you record your findings?

Have a brilliant day – work hard and have fun!

Miss Simons, Mrs Brookes and Mrs Roberts : )
