Wednesday 15th July – Year 5

Good morning Year 5 – how are we all today?

A very important message from Miss Kinsella – make sure that you check your e mails for an invite to a transition meeting with her.

A Challenge to get you started!

English

I’d like you to read the following poem – ‘Magic Box’ by Kit Wright:

Magic_Box_Poem_by_Kit_Wright

Think about what you would put into a Magic Box if you had the choice.

Here’s my version:

Mrs Millard – Magic Box

Write your version of the poem, putting into the box all of the things that might be precious to you, that you dream or hope of, or what you want.

Maths

Warm up – be imaginative! Use all operations (or a mixture of them). Think about using fractions and decimal numbers too!

Something a bit different today – looking at volume. Watch the lesson below:

https://classroom.thenational.academy/lessons/volume-to-read-scales-when-measuring-volume

Music

I know that as a class, you love singing. The following lesson looks at how and why singing makes us feel good. There are 2 videos to watch and 3 activities to try at home. Enjoy!

Have a great day.

Take care,

Mrs Millard and Mrs Munro XX

    I will put the box
the sound of my family having fun
    the sound of the ocean

I will put in the box
the sweet smell of my mums cooking
the sweet smell of the nature

I will put in the box
    the feeling of happiness
    the feeling of having fun

      Hi Jessica,

You were supposed to make number sentences that have the answer of 89 – sorry if it wasn’t clear!

I will put in a box
the bells ringing on Christmas eve
    the joy of my family
    the decorated house
I will put in a box
    the soft sand
    the fluffy snow
    the relaxing water
I will put in a box
the box had bones around it
    it was black and blue
with a picture under the box
