Year 3 – Monday 18th May 2020

Welcome back everyone!

We hope you had a lovely weekend and had a chance to enjoy the outdoors.

We will be updating the blog with English, Maths and wider curriculum tasks every day at 9am.

If you haven’t finished all of the work in your learning packs which we sent home then feel free to continue with these.

Don’t forget, we don’t expect you to be doing school work all day, every day!

It’s important to take regular breaks, get outside and stay healthy (especially if the sunshine continues).

If you can’t get outside, Joe Wicks is still doing his Youtube P.E. lessons on his Youtube channel every morning at 9am.

(Miss Lindop STILL hasn’t missed a single session since Joe began back in March)

Find them here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAxW1XT0iEJo0TYlRfn6rYQ

Remember you can also email any pictures of your work or questions you might have to us on yearthree@lingsprimary.org.uk

It might just be your name on a certificate this week. Who knows…?

We look forward to seeing your responses throughout the week.

Mrs Beckwith, Miss Lindop, Miss Barden and Miss Willmer.

Here are today’s tasks:

SPECIAL TASK:

On Thursday this week there’s going to be a worldwide attempt to break a Guinness World Record.

We want you to join in with this!

With adult help, follow the link below for more information on the attempt at the record.

It’s something different and all you need to do is get an adult to register with an email and be ready for an arty world record on Thursday afternoon.

In the morning, three people came out of the castle.

Hit the button:

We play this game in class all of the time, see how many of your times tables facts you can get right in 1 minute. Remember, in Year 3 you should know your 2, 3, 4, 5, 8 and 10 times tables.

Story time:

Want to do some reading but have read all of your books at home?

No problem! Listening to a story is just as good as reading one.

This week we are going to continue listening to a few chapters from Charlie and The Chocolate Factory each day, if you missed last week you’ll need to go back and catch up. If you miss a day you’ll need to catch up too.

    COMPUTING:

You should tell a trusted adult about it and do not listen to the e-mail. The adult will delete this message for you.

    MATHS CHALLENGE:
The answer is : 1 pencil costs 8 pence, so two pencils cost 16 pence.

Here is how I worked it out:
    6 x 10 p = 60 p
    3 x 5 p = 15 p

    60 p + 15 p = 75 p

    75 p – 59 p = 16 p –> cost of both pencils
    16 p divided by 2 = 8 p –> cost of 1 pencil
