Tuesday 12th May – Year 1

Hello Year 1,

How did you get on with your activities yesterday? Thank you to those of you that have sent us pictures/updates of your home learning – we love hearing from you and your families!

We understand that some of you may have received a package from us in the post … don’t worry if you haven’t yet – it’s on its way to you! If you have received your package, we will be posting some instructions next week to tell you what to do with it. If you are excited and can’t wait until then, don’t worry – your adult can help you work out what to do with the package and you can use it whenever you would like! We will be writing about the package (and what to do with it) next week!

Here are today’s set of activities:

1. Sounds-Write Phonics

2. Reading/Writing

Look at the front cover of our story. Can you identify the title and author?

Now let’s read the first few pages of our new story …

Look at the pictures from the story above.

You are going to describe the setting and come up with some words to help you develop your ideas tomorrow.
How do the people look like they feel? What’s missing in the pictures? What is different between this world and yours?
Write a word list of adjectives to describe the setting.

3. Maths

Measure Mass

4. Art

Go and collect a range of leaves from outside – if you have kept your leaves from Science yesterday then you can use these instead! You will want lots of different sizes, shapes and patterns. You are going to make some pencil rubbings of your leaves. Put your leaves behind a blank piece of paper and with a pencil/coloured pencil, gently colour over the top of where your leaf is … look at the similarities and differences between the leaf patterns.

Science challenge: Can you label the leaves correctly?

Have a fantastic day,

Miss Simons, Mrs Brookes and Mrs Roberts : )
