Tuesday 5th May – Year 6

Writing:

Here are some examples of poems that have been written to reflect what is happening at the moment:

Now use these to write your own poem that reflects this situation. It can be funny, sad, inspirational etc. You can write it to everyone, your friends, key workers, the NHS etc. The choices are up to you.

Maths:

Task 1: Use this website to have a go at estimating angles (challenge yourself to say what type of angle they are as well). Try all 4 levels.

https://www.transum.org/software/SW/Starter_of_the_day/Students/Angles.asp?Level=1

Now try this game where you have to stop the angle in the correct place:

https://nrich.maths.org/1235

Today we are going to use some of the rules that we learnt yesterday to look at opposite angles. Go through the PowerPoint below.

opposite angles

Now complete the questions on this sheet remembering to explain how you have found the answer. If you can, e-mail me the sheet once you have completed it.

PHSE:

There has been lots of images showing how animals have enjoyed exploring during the lockdown. Here are just a few:

What other positives can you think of that have happened because of lockdown.

Some ideas:

– Pollution levels

– Spending time with family

– Having the time to start new hobbies etc.

Complete some research in to this and then write something that explains what you have found. You could write a letter telling people what changes to keep, a story about the time the world went into lockdown, an non-chronological report about all of the positive things or any other style that you want.

Extra task:

Do something meaningful for someone you really care about.

Some ideas:

  • Make someone a meal
  • Write someone a letter
  • Make someone a card
  • Draw a picture for someone
  • Help someone complete a task (this could be as simple as doing the washing up)

    The corona virus
first people didn’t care about it

then they cared about it even more
taking toilet paper for some odd reason

    and now were all quarantined
all of you will stay safe like the rainbows on there windows

lets hope its end quickly so we can see each other again

    Maths.
for the power point I could only get the first two figured out.
    1. D= 133 degrees Reason= D is this because the little square is a right angle which equals 90 degrees.
You have to do 83+54+90=277 and then you do 360-227=133.

    2. G= 58 degrees F=58 degrees
Reason= 58 degrees because you have to do 644=35=145=244 and then 360-244=116. Since they are opposite each other they equal the same so you do 166 divided by 2= 58 degrees.

    PSHE.
The benefits are that there is less pollution due to the fact the less transport is being used and less people have to travel long distances to go to school or work. People are exercising and are going out for walks or staying inside to do it too. It is a chance to learn something new or to pick up a new hobby and also to spend quality time with family.

For me the lockdown has meant that i can now spend more time with my family and old photos learning more about my family and how annoying and competitive my grandad is (grandad wanted me to say that he looked hansom then and now but i don’t think so) .I have also been doing my silhouette online i have also been learning tap (which i’m doing today).I have done much more cooking and have learned how to play 3s and 5s in dominoes.

For the world lockdown has created less pollution, less car accidents, road rage and death and murder of humans and animals there is many things that are becoming better during lockdown.

    Writing:
Sitting at home nothing to do,
    It is really boring,
Before it was fine to say achoo,
    Now I can’t taste Grandma’s lovely puddings.

Nurses are risking lives for strangers,
While Trump just tweets on his phone,
This is all wrong we are all in danger,
Children screaming mummy just come home.

    ,
    Trading gone wrong,
    Now food isn’t enough,
We all have to stay strong,
    Even if it is tough.

We cant lose all of our amazing workers, we just have to get through this!

Lockdown has been helpful cause it’s stopping us from going outside
Which means the earth can clean itself not only that
We get to spend more time with family
