Thursday 30th April- Year 5

Buenas dias!  Como estas?

Good day.  How are you?

Remember what Mrs Millard explained yesterday- we are giving our certificates this week, based not just on who completes their blog work, but also on who “purple pens” their work- that includes those replying by email.  We have been sending feedback to all of you, but you do need to use it!

Jolly well done to our amazing bloggers yesterday – Dan, Leon, Jessica, Jaynelle, Aamirat, Dhanshri and a great e mail from Tanisa. Super well done to Aamirat and Dhanshri for also responding to the previous days work.

English

For question 3, remember what we have learnt about summarising this year (bullet points,  short answers explaining the main ideas)

For question 4, make sure you explain your suggestion with evidence from the text!

Maths

What do you know about perimeter?

Have a look at this

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zvmxsbk/articles/zsr4k7h

Now try and solve this

History

Greece was the first country to create democracy- in fact even the word democracy is Greek! Find out about how their government worked.   Share 5 facts with the class.

From what you have learnt about the government, trials and the Olympics in Ancient Greece, over the past 2 weeks,  what can you tell me about women in Ancient Greece?

Have a great day!

    Hello Mrs Leeming,
Here is my English from yesterday. I did all the work bit didn’t post on the blog sorry.

The Olympics was a festival where over 50,000 people went to watch or compete, women were not allowed to compete. The Ancient Greeks didn’t win medal’s but they won a wreath of leaves and they believe they also ‘’are touched by God’’. The Olympic games still go on today, there are summer and winter Olympic games and there has been 28 summer games in total.

    1. 220 to 280 men are on the jury.
    2. Suggested and Proposed mean the same as recommended.
    3.
*Socrates questioned Gods if they were real
    *Found guilty
    *Punishment is death
    *Socrates didn’t agree with jury
    *He was sarcastic
    4. I think Socrates got killed because it says in the text “But he left them little choice by not treating the trial seriously”.

    MATHS

The width of one is 4 so on one rectangle there would be two 4 cm.
    4+ 4= 8
    4+4 =8
    8+8=16
    4times 3 is 12
    12+ 12+12+12=48
    48+ 16=64

    64 is the perimeter.

    1) 500 men were in the jury
    2) proposed and suggested
3)someone witnessed a trial of a fine man, the jury found him guilty and though a death penalty was sensible.
    4) the Socrates didn’t offer which could of put them in a position of the jury voting for them as he didn’t take the trial serious the jury did not support his view.
    Maths ) 64cm
    History)
    1) he had power, kept control of his civilisation, he kept voting compulsory also he made other specific roles for people who were close in line to him.
    2) Women weren’t allowed to participate in any sports only men were allowed.

The perimeter is the measurement of the outside of an object or area.
The 3 rectangles in the centre – each one is 4cm so 3×4=12cm. That’s how I how I got the longest side of the small rectangle.
    I added the 2 4cm bits to the 12m. 4+4+12=20.
    20+20=40
    40+24=64

It sounds like some of your research is about now, instead of the Ancient Country.
