Good morning Children!

I wonder who will be getting one of our new certificates today…

Thank you for your messages telling me why it’s good to have rain sometimes. You are all right – we need rain to help the plants grow, to keep the frogs and the fish happy and because it is fun to splash in!

But I still wish that the sun would come out! I thought you might enjoy this little video of Cookie Monster trying to think of 3 words that rhyme with rain:

Maths

Do you remember what the 1 means in the teen numbers (11-19)?
It means 10. The teen numbers are a ten add another number that is less than 10, so 13 is a ten add a 3.
Can you make the teen numbers using the numicon in your pack or getting 10 objects the same and making a ten on one side and adding the other number to it? Like this…

Phonics – remember – your child only has to do one set, not all.

Understanding the World

Hello everyone, it’s Mrs Tucker here.  I’m so happy that so many of you have been enjoying watching my robin family.  I’m really hoping that the chicks will be OK.  I think that 4 of the chicks have hatched – you will see in the first video that there is still one egg left.  Well done to Zanti and Alex who knew that the mummy eats the egg shells because they are a good source of nutrients for them and yes, the parents bring their chicks small bugs and flies to eat.

You can see in the videos that the chicks are opening their beaks up for their food.  It is a competition between the chicks to try and get the food from their parents – this means that sometimes the smallest and weakest chick does not get fed.

Next week we are going to be learning about lifecycles of plants and animals; I know that some of you have been doing some planting so I’m wondering if you have, maybe you could send me a picture of whatever you have planted so that we think about the lifecycle of a plant.  We might also do frogs, butterflies, birds and maybe some of your pets like Leo’s rabbit.
