Monday 20th April – Year 1

Welcome back Year 1,

We hope you had a chocolatey and fun-filled Easter break! We can’t wait to hear what you have been up to and we are excited to carry on helping you learn from home. We are starting some brand new topics! Would you like to know what your activities are today? You can have a look in a minute but first, we would like to you have a chat with your adult and impress them with your knowledge of how to stay safe online. Here is a question for you to discuss with them:

If you would like, you can type your answers into the comments for your teachers to see!

Right, now you’re all warmed up and raring to go … here’s today’s activities:

  1. Sounds-Write Phonics
Miss Simons, Mrs Brookes/Roberts and Mrs Jones’ Groups:
    /ee/ <ee>
    Review
    all previously learnt sounds.
Read the words: see feet bleed three freeze squeeze beeswax sheepskin bumblebee chimpanzee disagree
Write the words: see meet keep need tree agree canteen between greeting
Sound Swap: fib fob bob blob blib blin flin
Dictation: I can see a bee in the tree. My feet keep bleeding on my sheepskin rug.
Challenge: I was sat between the trees when a bumblebee flew by and made me freeze.Mrs Sargent and Mrs Clarke’s Groups:
    /ee/ <ee>
    Review all previously learnt sounds.
Read the words: see feet bleed three bee

Dictation: I can see a bee in the tree.
  2. Reading/Writing
We are going to be exploring a brand new story! I’m going to give you a clue about what our new story is going to be about …

Look at the picture. What do you think our new story will be about?
Write a prediction and see whether you can use the word ‘because’ to explain your ideas.

  1. Maths
What is bigger or smaller than my pencil/pen?
Take a pen – or pencil – and go on a hunt around your house (or in your garden) to find things that are bigger and smaller!
Record your findings on a piece of paper.
  2. Art
You are going to be a shoe designer and design a wacky and crazy pair of shoes!
Use pencils to produce a detailed drawing of a unique shoe that you have invented yourself.
Here are some wacky shoes to help you get started:

(Miss Simons loves the Lego shoes!)

Have a great Monday!

      Hi Japgun,

It is so lovely to hear from you. We hope that you have had a lovely Easter holiday. WOW … fantastic work today! Well done. Great investigating in Maths! I wonder whether what a tadpole turns into would be bigger or smaller than your pencil?

Keep up the good work (and keep smiling),

You saw something online that really upset you. What should you do?
Ava said if it was at home I would tell Mummy and Daddy. If I was at School I would tell my Teacher.

Well done Ava! Fantastic answer … you must always tell an adult if you see something online that upsets you.
