The focus of today’s lesson are homophones and near-homophones.
Homophones are words that sound the same but are spelled differently and mean different things.
An example of a pair of homophones are there and their.
Near-homophones are words that sound similar (but not exactly the same!) and are spelled differently and mean different things.
An example of a pair of near-homophones are peas and peace.
Tip: You may need to look up words in a dictionary to check their meaning. There is an online dictionary available here https://kids.britannica.com/kids/browse/dictionary
