Year5- Monday 8th February

Wow,  it’s final week of the term.

Remember you can email with any questions or work yearfive@lingsprimary.org.uk

Morning task

Maths- 75 minutes

Today we’re doing maths with sweets.

Here is a video all about data handling.    Have a watch,  pause where it says and have a go at the questions.

Gaining confidence

At the end of the video there is a bar chart and some questions which are also here below.

Something to think about

Challenge Yourself

Challenge

Task 1

Create a data handling chart of your choice from those we’ve looked at today-  tally chart,  pictogram,  bar chart by hand,  bar chart using ICT.

Some ideas for data you could look at-  do a survey of favourite crisp/pizza/chocolates in your family,  investigate the sweets in a tube of smarties /bag of m&ms etc, investigate the sizes of the different pairs of shoes in your house.

Task 2

Come up with 3 questions about your data-  can you use the word frequent in one?

English- we have a zoom at 11.00- 90 minutes

Here is a video of the ending.   If you miss the zoom

Task 1-

read through the text – zoom/ video

Task 2-

summarise what is happening-  in your own words

Task 3-

Do you think this is a good ending?   Why/ why not?  Explain your answer.

History- 60 minutes

So far we have found out about the start of the war,  life in the trenches and the end of the war with the treaty of Versailles.

Now let’s find out about life after the war.

history 6

As usual, feel free to present your work on powerpoint, through art work,  in writing or as a model.

Spelling- 30 minutes

ance spellings.  We use the ance suffix for words that work with ant.  LIke relevant- relevance.    Pick one of the words from the list and investigate it.

 hindrance  governance  nuisance relevance

      Hi Kristers,
Question 1 is a missing number problem so we need to swap it around and say 10, 711- 8641= ?
Question 2, start at -7 and count up to 0. Then start at 0 and count up to 13. Now add together your 2 answers.
A parallelogram has 4 sides. But it has no lines of symmetry.

    – Puck and Oberon find Hermia and Helena arguing
    – Puck tries to make it all better and it worked
    – everyone who loved each other all go back to normal

The fighting isn’t good, but then it is good because they all get back together and everything is normal again because Puck fixed it.

Puck puts the spell on Demetrius and Lysander and when they wake up they will love Helena soon Hermia comes and she sees Lysander and Demetrius comforting and loving Helena soon after that Hermia and Helena start to insult each other then Lysander and Demetrius go. Soon Egeus and Theseaus blow a trumpet Puck wares the potion of then Lysander and Hermia held hands Egeus was furious then Egeus told Demetrius why he was not angry.

The 11th November 1918 at 11am was when the last battle of World War one ended. An armistice was signed and hostilities on the Western Front ended. The Treaty of Versailles blamed Germany for the cause of the war and it didn’t make every nation happy. The war had a large impact on everyone involved.

You are absolutely correct, although WW1 was horrific, it did cause a huge increase in both technology and medicine. Why do you think medicine might have improved?
And women did get the vote, they had been trying for many years, but during the war they stopped trying and concentrated on helping the country, and this won them the respect of many men.

    History

WW1 changed the world as after it happened technology suddenly raised. Even after the war there was still conflict between Germany and other country’s. The Russians made a treaty to stop them being hostage’s to Germany. New revolutions happened after the war as well. Many people came home injured but the worst part was that they sometimes had to find their way home. But we will always remember them

    English task 3

I don’t like the ending because puck should have left the spell on Lysander and then if puck left the spell on Lysander Egeus will be happy and he will not put Lysander in prison hopefully.

Duke Theseus over ruled Egeus and let the couples all get married, so Lysander did not get put into prison and was able to marry Hermia.
