Reception Home Learning – Friday 5th February

Good morning everyone – I have news from Mrs Tucker in school – this time it’s not bad news – thank goodness!

Phonics

This week for our Rocket Words Archie is going to show us a very energetic way to learn to sight read those Rocket Words.  Remember to choose just a few that your child doesn’t recognise.  You may not all have rubber mallets but you could use soft ball to touch them or a rolled up pair of socks or a fly swatter (if you have one).  Good luck…. and be careful!

Literacy

Poor Puck is in a flap children.  Can you help him?  He needs to make a magic potion for Oberon to put on Titania.  Let’s hope this one doesn’t go wrong!

Look what happens when Titania wakes up from the spell in the play.  She falls in love with the first thing that she sees.  And it is …… a donkey!  I don’t think that is supposed to happen, do you?

Expressive Art and Design and Physical Development

Next week we will continue with A Midsummer Night’s Dream and we will all need a Fairy Wand as we are going to be mixing potions and learning a Fairy Dance.  So you can make yours however you like but here is Mrs Henderson showing you how she is making hers.

Physical Development

Next week we are all going to be learning a Fairy Dance together and we will hopefully all perform it on Friday.  More about that next week, but let’s join in with this dance.  Next week we will teach you a dance step-by-step.

Understanding the World

Mrs Henderson has been out in the garden looking for fairies, she didn’t find any this time, but she did find something else!

Story

She’s back with another fairy story, that’s right, it’s Mrs Whitestone with the Emerald Fairy –

Cbeebies Midsummer Night’s Dream performance – optional!

Here is the link to the Cbeebies Midsummer Night’s Dream show.  It is 50 minutes long so we would not watch this at school, but if your child is interested in the whole story then we hope you will enjoy watching it together.

Internet safety –

It is important to keep giving reminders to the children about staying safe online. Lots of unsuitable material can come up on sites such as YouTube, even if the children start watching something suitable, they can easily stumble across unsuitable material without realising. We would recommend using the YouTube kids app which allows only suitable videos. For lots of other ways to stay safe online please have a look at this website which has advice specific for this age group:

We hope you have enjoyed our first week of mystical magic with the naughty sprite Puk and Oberon and Titania! We have enjoyed it – especially seeing all your magical work! Shakespeare really did write some amazing things, and so have you!

Have a magical weekend everyone, if you go out this weekend and spot some signs of spring like Mrs Henderson did, let us know!

Best wishes from all in the Reception Team, and of course, Puk!
