Warm up challenge (15 minutes)

Have a look at this text:
Now answer these questions:
- Why are Hermia and Lysander tired?
- Why did Puck assume that Lysander was the man that he was looking for?
- Why was Helena scared?
- How do you think Helena feels when Lysander falls in love with her?
Now read this text:
Answer these questions:
- What does Demetrius described Helena as?
- Why did Helena get angry?
- How did Hermia feel about this? Why?
- How did Puck sort out the problem?
Writing (1 hour 15 minutes)
As you know, Puck put the love potion on the eyes of Lysander, Demetrius and Titania.
We know Lysander and Demetrius feel in love with Helena.
Titania fell in love with a man called Nick Bottom who is in the forest practising a play. Unfortunately, Puck has also performed his magic and turned Bottom’s head into a donkey’s head.
Have a read of the following text where Oberon decide’s to get Puck to remove the spell from Titania:
OBERON (Putting the herb on Titania’s eyes)
Be as thou wast wont to be;
See as thou wast wont to see.
TITANIA
My Oberon! What visions have I seen!
Methought I was enamoured of an ass.
OBERON
There lies your love.
Silence awhile – Robin, take off this head.
PUCK
Now, when thou wak’st, with thineown fool’s eyes peep.
Fairy king, attend, and mark:
I do hear the morning lark.
TITANIA
Come, my lord, and in our flight
Tell me how it came this night
That I sleeping here was found
With these mortals on the ground.
So to summarise, Titania wakes from the spell and tells Oberon she thought she was in love a donkey! Oberon points him out and asks Puck to remove his donkey head. Titania and Oberon have made up from their fight.
Do you think Oberon was right to remove the spell?

For the rest of this week, we will be building up to write a balanced argument. This is when we right from both sides of an argument and don’t include our own opinion until maybe the end of the piece of writing.
Today, we will look at the structure, features and how to write an introduction.

School Uniforms – Good or Bad?
Ever since they were introduced in Victorian times, school uniforms have been a contentious subject. In this discussion text I will look at both sides of the argument – why some teachers love them, and why most kids don’t.
Should Zoos be banned?
Zoos are very popular – and becoming increasingly more so – and have been around, in one form or another, for over 100 years now. Originally, zoos’ conditions were poor and animals were treating badly yet they have grown more suitable for both humans and animals, though many people still question if it is right to be doing this to animals. This balanced argument will discuss if zoos should be kept open or banned, consider the benefits to all species and debate whether the potential damage caused is too high.
Is it better to be a child or an adult?
Being a child can be very exciting because you can have lots of fun and you don’t have to complete lots of boring jobs that adults have to do. Peter Pan never wanted to grow up and maybe he was right! Although, some people would say that being an adult is better, due to the fact you get to earn and spend lots of money and buy whatever you want. There are lots of arguments for both sides. What would your opinion be?
Are Premier League footballers paid too much?
The Premier League began in 1992, taking over from the old first division. With money from Sky Television, so began the era of multi-million pound transfers and huge wages for the players. The highest earning Premier League footballer is Alexis Sanchez of Manchester United, who is alleged to earn £500,000 a week. Do they deserve this amount of money, or should it be spent elsewhere?

Main activity
Today’s lesson will be broken into 3 sections.
Section 1:
In this section, we will recap on how to multiply a fraction by a whole number e.g.
1/4 x 6 =
Remember that in order to answer questions like this, we simply need to multiply the numerator (top number) by the whole number and leave the denominator the same.
1/4 x 6 = 6/4.
We do this because the whole number does changes, only the amount of parts we get given does.
Another example:
2/5 x 12 = 24/5
Now you try some:
Multiplying fractions by whole numbers
Section 2:
In this section, we will recap on how to divide fractions by whole numbers e.g.
1/4 divided by 6 =
Remember that in order to answer questions like this, we simply need to multiply the denominator (bottom number) by the whole number and leave the numerator the same.
1/4 divided by 6 = 1/24
We do this because this time we are splitting the whole into more pieces.
Here is another example:
2/8 divided by 4 = 2/32
Now you try:

Section 3:
Finally, we will be recapping on how to multiply pairs of fractions i.e.
1/4 x 2/3 =
To do this we simply multiply the numerator by the numerator and the denominator by the denominator.
1/4 x 2/3 =
1 x 2 = 2
4 x 3 = 12
1/4 x 2/3 = 1/12
Here is another example:
2/8 x 3/5 = 6/40

Today’s question is:
How could we construct our own keys?
I want you to think back to what we learnt about classification keys last week.
Using that knowledge, can you identify where these animals:
fit on this classification key:
Task:
I would like you to create a classification key about a topic of your own choice.
It could be:
- Identifying dinosaurs
- Identifying computer games
- Identify different species of dogs
- Idenifying different fruits
It can be on whatever you want.
Things to think about:
- Make it manageable. If you are doing species of dogs, just choose 4 – 6 dogs – don’t attempt to do them all!
- Try to choose objects that are clearly identifyable i.e. a cucumber and a courgette have very similar features so the clues might be confusing.

In my opinion children shouldn’t use social media because they usually go on it all day which is not very good for their eyes
