Year 2 Home Learning – Friday 22nd January

Good Morning Year 2!

It’s the last day of our school week!

We hope you’re ready for today’s home learning.

We know it’s a little bit different learning from home, but we are here if you need any help. We know you can do this!

Remember we have a zoom register at 10.20am every morning. It is important you log in to this promptly so that we can say good morning to each other, give you instructions for today’s learning, complete our Phonics lesson as well as working through our Reading and Writing activities together.

A link for this has been sent to the parent email you have registered at school. Please email us at the Year 2 email address if you need a new link sending to you.

Please bring paper and a pencil/pen to the zoom register.

Please remember to comment on the blog when you have completed your tasks, and to email us your completed work so we can see what you have been doing and support you if needed. Work can be emailed via your pupil email address (details were issued last term) or via a parents email address to yeartwo@lingsprimary.org.uk.

Have a great day and we will be waiting for you when we can all go back to school together!

Miss Duncan, Miss Battams and the rest of the Year 2 team.

Secret Scientist!

The secret scientist has been busy creating a rocket launch video for you so that you can see the rocket from the zoom launch this morning! We apologise for any sound issues during the call.

Please leave us a comment to tell us what you thought of the live science lesson at the bottom of this page or via an email.

English – Reading

Here is your reading for today. You need to read the task and look at what has happened. Can you write a bried summary of the report to share what you have learnt has now happened. Imagine you are telling somebody who has not read the news report about it.

Friday 23.1.21 Newspaper report magic flower  Click here for the text or watch the video to hear it read out to you.

English – Writing

Can you write your own report to show what the problem in the forest was and how the problem has been resolved.

You should include:

  • where the problem was
  • Who was involved
  • What happened
  • How was the problem solved
  • How did it end and what may happen next.

You can be as creative with this as you would like! You could write it as a written report piece, you could create a newspaper page or you could even record you reading your report like a newsreader just like Miss Battams. Remember to keep it interesting and to share lots of information to help your reader understand what is happening. Please note, if you choose to record your report it must still be written down first as this is a writing task. You can send your videos to us to watch if you would like to, and written reports can be emailed.

PSHE – Online Safety

Read the following text. With an adult in your house talk about what should you do?

Reading/Story

Miss Duncan has recorded a story for story time. It is called ‘Zoom Out’ and it is an non-fiction book. We hope you enjoy it.

We have an online log in which will link to some ebooks that follow our reading scheme in school. These books will allow your child to practice their phonics skills. It is a free resource.

Follow this link to log in: https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/?selLanguage=en&mode=hub

Go to Oxford Owl for Home and click on enter site.
This will give you the option to choose a book recommended for your age or you can choose a book from the colour you read at school.
These are all free to read and it would be great if you could read one to someone at home.

Remember to leave us a comment on the blog to share your learning or you can email it to me at yeartwo@lingsprimary.org.uk.

We look forward to seeing your work!

I will pass on your thank you! He will be pleased to know you enjoyed it! There are lots of instructional videos on Youtube if you would like to have a go. This is a good one to try although they use a slightly different method for adding the ingredients. You just have to run away a bit faster if you do it this way I find. Have fun and stay safe!

      Miss Battams 🙂
