Reception Home Learning Wednesday 20th January

Hello everybody

Welcome to Wednesday!  Yesterday was Tuesday…do you know which day it will be tomorrow?   Thursday!  Well done for carrying on with your home learning- we do know that both children and adults get tired but hopefully they are still finding the activities motivating and if any need a little pep talk/encouragement we can call them or leave them a message on Tapestry.

As always we are starting with phonics.

Phonics Group A

Phonics Group B

Phonics Group C – please ignore the dates on these as recorded when we were in isolation.

Reading

Literacy

Do you remember the story we are learning this week?  The Three Little Pigs.  And here’s a reminder of the words that we are also learning.

Today’s job is to try to tell the story yourself to your grown up using full sentences and exciting vocabulary (words).  Here’s a story map to remind you of the sequences of the story.  Follow the arrows around and say at least one sentence for each picture.  If you are able to, could you record your story and ask your grown up to put it on Tapestry for us to watch?

Here is the story map I used.

Maths

Starter – Number bonds to five.

Main

This week we have been learning one more and one less than.  Today, we are going to use both pictures and a number line to calculate 2 more and 2 less than a given number.  However, if your child was not confident with one more and less please repeat the videos from Monday and Tuesday before moving on.

Physical Development

How did you get on with Mrs O’Hagan’s sock challenge?  Here’s her next one for you.  If you practised throwing and passing the balls accurately last week you should be good at this one!  If not, keep practising!

Story –Little Red Riding Hood, another Traditional Tale, read in English and Polish by Mrs Cieslik

Thank you everyone for trying your best – and parents if you are struggling to get your child to do the work please let us know and we can call them.

Best wishes

The Reception Team
