PSHE Part Two – Friday 8th January
Yesterday, we thought about what we would do if we won the lottery. We considered whether we would be able to do those things without money and whether our dreams could only be achieved if we had enough money to do them. Hopefully, we realise that not all of our dreams require money. Some might need hard work, determination, resilience and maybe even a little sprinkling of luck.
Today, we are going to think about what you want your life to be like when you are grown up. We are not talking about now, but a number of years time when you are adults. To get you thinking about this, watch this clip from Matilda, a musical inspired by Roald Dahl’s brilliant book.
What do the children in the song want when they are older? Is this the same as you?
Then, try to answer these questions about yourself when you grow up. How might your life be different? What do you want to be able to do when you’re older? What might you like to be able to do? What kind of job would you like? What would you like your hobbies and interests to be? What do you want to be doing with your time?
There are three tasks for you to try. Make sure that you do at least one of them (but feel free to do them all if possible!):
- Post a comment with your thoughts on the questions above. Tell us about your dreams!
- Use the cloud below to create a “dream cloud”. On the cloud, write down what your dreams are for when you are older. If it is easier, you can draw your own cloud and email us a picture of it.
- Put your dreams into the song that you have just heard. Can you change the lyrics of the song to show your own dreams for the future?
Good luck!
This should take 45 minutes.
I would like to be a footballer and to have a lot of cars.
No printer
“When I grow up, I will be tall enough to win the headers, score from corner kicks. When I grow up, I will be speeding up and down my racing trach, When I grow up”

You have the makings of a “Franek version” of this song here.

Hello Rihanna
Hopefully when you’re an adult, you’ll have some interesting tales to tell about how we all had to lockdown and keep away from each other!
Mr Bushell
When I grow up my life will be different as I could be famous.
The reason why I could be famous is because I want to be an astronaut, so I can go into space.
MY hobbies are playing (video) games, cooking and space.
I might be able to give some money to the charity and other people when I’m a adult.
Good work Owen.
What is your plan of action for becoming an astronaut? What skills does an astronaut need?
Mr Bushell
when I was younger I wanted to be Spider-Man hahaha because he helps and saves peoples lives but as ive got older I know I cant be Spider-Man swinging from building to building dodging bullets and beating all the bad guys so I sat and thought about it and the closest I get to doing that is being a police-man helping to save people and keep people safe especially my family and friends I know being a policeman means I have to be good at home and school which I will try my best as I would like my family and if one day I have a family of my own I would like them all to be proud of me I know I have to work hard for this job so I will try my best
