Morning Year 6

I hope you are all well.

See you on Zoom at 9:05

Warm up activity:

Complete the challenge at the link below:

https://www.transum.org/software/SW/Starter_of_the_day/starter_January6.asp

Reading:

Today, we are going to learn more about our characters from Athens.

Have a look at the information about the characters from yesterday at the following link:

https://www.rsc.org.uk/shakespeare-learning-zone/a-midsummer-nights-dream/character/relationships

Remember the characters that we are looking at are:

  • Egeus
  • Hermia
  • Lysander
  • Demetrius
  • Helena
  • Theseus

Feel free to look at others as well if you want to. If you click on a character’s face (on the website) it will give you lots of information about that character and some pictures of them during the play.

Use this information and the information you learnt yesterday to create a role on the wall for at least 2 of the characters.

You can draw your own role on the wall or use the template below.

Role on the wall

Writing

The other main setting in the play is a forest.

What do you think of when you hear the word ‘forest’? Write down some ideas.

Have a look at the picture below:

Think about the following things:

  • What can you see?
  • What might you be able to hear?
  • What might it taste like?
  • How would it smell?
  • What would you be able to feel?
  • How would being there make you feel?

Now look at the same picture. This time, the picture has some of the lines that Shakespeare uses to describe the forest.

Forest

Can you add some more of your own to the image? Send me any that can be added so the whole class can see them.

Using your own ideas and the ideas from the final picture, can you turn the description into a poem, rap of a song. It doesn’t need to rhyme or follow any rules but think about how you might organise it.

Maths

Starter activity:

Complete your weekly times tables grid. Don’t forget to set a timer so that you can note down your time.

Times tables

Once you are done, send them over and I will mark them.

Main activity:

Today, we will be going over division including long division.

Try these first:

  1. 27 divided by 3 =
  2. 135 divided by 5 =
  3. 263 divided by 2 =
  4. 27.5 divided by 5 =
  5. 335 divided by 15 =

Send me your answers to these so that I can check them and ask if you need any help.

Now try these:

Division

Send me over your completed work and remember to ask for help if you get stuck on any of them.

PE

You should have received an e-mail from Mr and Mrs Davies which had your Jasmine login. Please spend the afternoon completing activities on there.

Online Safety:

Don’t forget about the TT Rockstars competition! Girls are currently in the lead!

I can see rows off trees until the finishing point.I also see a foot path with many prints that have been left by unwanted visitors there are also piles of gravel.

I can hear the calming sound of trees rustling and rocks clashing as i take a step.

I can taste a tree that is very green and tastes like celery I can also taste disgusting dirt.

I can smell the pong of dirt until my destination i can also smell gravel.

If I was there i would feel like i’m alone and lonely because the trees are rustling and it creeps me out.

I can see trees of green so tall and mud so brown and squishy it sucks you in like quick sand. I would here squilching from footsteps far away and leaves crackling in the far distance. Birds chirping all night long it’s just like there singing a song. It would be disturbing if someone ate mud but leaves prop ally taste like a green vegetable. It might smell like poo because animals such as dogs can leave there waste any ware. If I could feel it, it would feel rough and slimey…

    Poem task

All I can : By Hassan Gillani

    Big trees,
    Little trees,
    It’s all I can see.

    Windy,
    Earth beneath my feet,
It’s all that I can feel.

    Birds chirping,
    Plants rustling,
    That’s all I can hear.

    Bitter,
    Sour air,
    Is all I can taste.

    Wetness of the wood,
    Dampness of the mud,
    Is all I can smell.

In a forest I’ll see a hourd of trees and twigs crunching in my ear. I won’t taste anything cause they’ll be nothing in my mouth I might smell cold air and dirt. I’ll feel crunchy spikey leaves and squishy dirt.I it’s night time I’ll feel unsafe unless I know where I want all time

When i hear the word forest I think of animals and trees and maybe hoping to see a dino still alive.
1.I see trees, a trail, stones, leaves and grass.
2.wind, leaves hitting eachother and birds crowing.
3.spikey (leaves), solid (rocks) and cold (wind).
4.It would smell good because the smell of grass and leaves are very good.
5.Spikes edged leaves, hard solid rocks and wood.
6.It would make me feel lost, scared and a bit excited because I might feel like searching to find a dino.

when I hear the word FOREST I think of leaves and trees bushes .

You might be able to hear the birds singing or when you walk you can hear the leaves rustling.

Maybe you can smell the damp mud or the rain from the trees.

You might be able to feel the wet , damp leaves falling on top of you.

Being their would make me feel magical.

I can also hear walkers trampling on crunchy twigs and making a crunch . It will taste like damp clothing (rain). It will smell like rain that has just smashed to the ground. You will feel fresh and awaken you when go you though this wood . you can feel the twigs crunching beneath your feet.
