Homework – Friday 4th December 2020

Hi Year 6

Well done for another fantastic week!

Task 1: Check your e-mails this weekend – you will have one from me and I would like a reply please.

Task 2:

Watch the following clip:

https://www.literacyshed.com/the-christmas-truce.html

This event (the football) really happened on Christmas Day during World War 1. Imagine you were there (as a soldier or someone watching) and write about it in a style of your choice.

You could write:

  • a diary
  • a newspaper
  • a retelling of the story from 1st person
  • or something else.

Have a good weekend and I’ll see you on Monday!

Miss Kinsella

It was Christmas Eve during World War 2 and we were just waiting to get our gifts from home .Then we suddenly found ourselves singing .

In the morning we were sleeping then the Germans started to shoot us so then we just started to shoot them as well. Then suddenly we started to go near them and we greeted each other it was like we were forgiving each other.

after a few minutes of forgiving each other we started to play football, British against Germans (it was a friendly game). That is when we became friendly and found out that we can be nice to each other and we are not mean .

    Dear diary ,
I’m bored of life just sitting in the trenches all alone so I made a really big dangerous disition I went to the fighting aponents and surrendered it took a lot of courage but I looked at my chocolate and thought of my family .This has to stop so I invited one of the other soldiers to come and see me and make a agreement so we played a lovely game of football but Jen I heated sirens and bombs so it was time to go back in the retched ,muddy trenches all alone again but at least we made peace .
