Northamptonshire Sport have taken the decision to cancel the Level 3 Summer School Games on the 9th July.
However, they have made the decision to make the Summer School Games virtual and open to all children in the county. At 10am on 4th May, the Virtual School Games will be launched. Each week, a set of three challenges will be set for students, teachers and parents to try both at home or at school. All activities have been designed so no specialist equipment is required.
In addition, coach videos will help support those who want to improve their personal best scores. There will also be printable quizzes, puzzles and problem solving tasks throughout the weeks. We as a school have signed up to this and want to win the score games for Northampton. The more people who participate the more points we as a school get. We as a school will share and post the challenges from Northamptonshire Sport on Facebook, Twitter and the blog, then the children need to post their videos on Twitter tagging in the school twitter, @Nsport and @NorthamptonSSP. If the you do not have access to this can you send your video to the school via the year group emails and the videos will then be posted on the school twitter page for you. All videos need to be posted by 5pm on Thursday of that week and then the videos will be included in a skills showcase video released by Northamptonshire Sport on that Friday.
In addition to this, on the 9th July, which was the original date for the School Games, there will be a virtual opening ceremony followed by 8 activity skills circuits. Schools and Families can take part throughout the day and challenge the scores set by the School Sports Partnership Staff.
We want as many children, families and teachers to participate to earn our points, be active and enjoy the experience of representing Lings.
