Reception’s Learning week commencing 16th November – Friendship Week

This week across school we had Kindness week.  We centred this around a book called “Have You Filled a Bucket Today?” It’s a lovely book about being kind.  If your children came home talking about the invisible bucket here is the author reading it –

We also made a KIndness Tree for the classroom that the children could write notes or draw pictures to attach to and talked about what it means to be a good friend.

We continue to make progress in phonics and would ask that you please read and re-read the books/word cards we send home and please do try and help your child sight read the ‘Rocket words’ in the front page of their reading records.

In maths this week we have started to find number bonds to 10…that is 2 numbers that make 10, and we are getting the children to say the number sentences out loud e.g. 8 and 1 make 10.  The school has also subscribed to a new maths resource called White Rose Maths and they provide resources for parents to do at home.  These can be found here should you want to do some more maths at home –
