Thursday 4th June – Year 6

SPaG:

Remind yourself of the work that you completed on Tuesday looking at punctuation. Complete this lesson reminding yourself how to use semi-colons in your writing.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zdtny9q

As an extra activity, why not look back at your story about the ‘train graveyard’. Have you added any semi-colons? Could you add some sentences that include semi-colons?

Reading:

Have a listen to Harry Potter chapter three:

Maths:

Thinking about the skills that you will have used on Tuesday, can you put them together to answer these word problems?

Now check your answers:

Finally, have a go at these questions online:

Geography:

Today, we are going to learn some key geography skills all to do with the world that we live in.

First, let us think about continents. There are seven. Can you name them?

Read the information on this website to see if you are right and to learn more about the continents.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zvsfr82/articles/znm7vk7

Have a look at this map to see where the continents are in comparison to each other. Remember that this picture shows the world as flat to make it easier to see. The world is round and the continents are further away from each other than they appear.

Next, let’s think about the world’s oceans. There are five. Can you name them?

Read the information on this website to see if you were right and to learn more.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/z849q6f/articles/zmqwscw

Now have a look at the map again to see where all the oceans are.

Now try these tasks to test your knowledge.

Task 3:

See what you can score on this quiz.

Extra task:

Why not draw a detailed picture of the continents and oceans on a A4 sheet of paper. Make sure you label each continent and ocean. To bring your drawing to life, why not add something that represents each continent i.e. an animal or a landmark that might be found there e.g.
