Today’s modern artist is called Wassily Kandinsky – he was from Russia. Here’s a little clip about his work –
And here are some pictures of his paintings
Ask your adult to close their eyes and then choose one of the pictures. Describe the picture to them and tell them what shapes and colours you can see. Which picture do you like the best?
Sounds swap – give the children the first word and then say the next and they need to swap one sound to make the new word -yet – let – less – loss – boss – box – fox
Write the words – remind the children to segment the word to write it – and, ant, end, pond, dust
Write the sentence – you say the sentence slowly and the children to attempt to write independently – The ant sat in the soft dust.
Read the book – A Vet’s week – you may need to remind the children that ‘ee’ makes and ee sound.
Sounds swap – give the children the first word and then say the next and they need to swap one sound to make the new word – lep – glep – glop – glap – flap – flop – flog
Write the words – remind the children to segment the word to write it – stop, spot, trip, swim, grab
Write the sentence – you say the sentence slowly and the children to attempt to write independently – Grab the dog Spot, he trips and can not swim.
Read the book – Fright night (please remind the children igh makes the I sound – 3 letters one sound)
Sounds swap – give the children the first word and then say the next and they need to swap one sound to make the new word – shick – quick – quill – pill – pick – ping – pang – slang
Write the words – remind the children to segment the word to write it, it doesn’t matter if they choose the wrong sound but you can tell them afterwards the correct one. windscreen, carpark, shopping, caravan
Write the sentence – you say the sentence slowly and the children to attempt to write independently – Put the ticket on the windscreen. We need to go shopping and get lots of fantastic food.
Read the book – Who eats who – this is a nice non fiction book. The children can use the index and contents page – I’ll put this one up tomorrow too as it is quite long.
Warm up – play ‘one less’ – you say a number and then your child has to say what number is one less than yours.
Today’s game in maths is about shapes. Have a look at the clip that explains about 2D shapes – at school we call them flat shapes. At the end there is a little quiz to do but grown ups you might want to ask your children more questions. Parents on children in my class (Mrs Tucker) ask them what my favourite 2D shape is … see if they remember it is a hexagon!
Here’s a nice challenge for today..or the next few days. Try level one first and only do level two if you can do one well.
Well done everyone – see you tomorrow x

Chloe said Mrs Tucker’s favourite shape is a Hexagon.
Her favourite picture is the last one as it has wiggly lines. Her Nana also used to have this painting hanging in her living room.
She’s remembered well! Well done for keeping up with all the work x
