PHSE

Our PHSE topic this half term is called ‘Healthy Me’ which if you are like me, isn’t happening very much at the moment!

Today, we will look at the importance of food.

We all know what foods are classed as healthy and unhealthy but did you know that food choices are much more complicated than that. Have a look through this PowerPoint to see why people make certain food choices.

Factors Affecting Food Choice

Did you know that certain foods can also affect how you are feeling? Read through this information to find out how.

https://www.mind.org.uk/information-support/tips-for-everyday-living/food-and-mood/about-food-and-mood/

Here are some other foods that affect your mood in a good way:

Chocolate – can improve your mood, especially dark chocolate.

Turkey – contains a chemical called tryptophan that can help you feel calmer.

Chillies – can turn a bad mood into a good mood.

Milk – warm milk can help you feel sleepy.

Task:

Using this Eatwell Plate:

And the knowledge that you have learnt today, plan yourself (can include your family if you want) a day’s eating and drinking plan to ensure that you have a good range of foods and take your moods into consideration i.e. avoiding caffeine in the evening and switching to warm milk or putting chillies in your dinner if you have had a stressful day.
