Wednesday 29th April – Year 1

Good Morning Year 1,

It’s Wednesday … are you ready for a singsong? Here are today’s songs:

We hope that you enjoyed having a singsong and it’s got you smiling – and feeling ready for the day ahead! Are you watching any of our brain breaks that we sent (links) home in your Home Learning Packs? We love having a dance and a boogie after every activity in school. Before we show you today’s activities, here is another reading challenge from Bella – The Pet Therapy Dog:

Enjoy your activities:

  1. Sounds-Write Phonics

  1. Reading/Writing
Handwriting practice – take your time and try to make every letter look the same:
*we are going to practise writing the letters b, d, p and q – these letters look quite similar and it’s very important that we move our pencil in the right way to make the correct letter.*

Don’t forget to put a : ) next to your neatest letters!
  2. Maths

Collect a range of as many everyday 3D shapes as you can; cylinders, cubes, cuboids, pyramids, cones, spheres and/or triangular prisms.

Which shapes can you roll?

Sort the 3D shapes into shapes that can roll and shapes that cannot roll.

  1. PE

How many different shapes can you make with your body? Think about how you can move different parts of your body to get into different positions. You could even work with a partner to help you out and work together to make some shapes! Put all of the different shapes together to make a ‘shape dance’! Can you hold each of your shapes for 5 seconds?

Challenge: Can you make a sequence of shapes and record your shapes to create a short sequence of instructions (algorithms in Computing).

Have another fantastic day,
Miss Simons, Mrs Brookes and Mrs Roberts : )
