Year 2 Home Learning Tasks – Monday 20th April

Good morning Year 2!

We hope you had a wonderful Easter and didn’t eat too much chocolate!

Let’s get your brains working again and for you to do some fantastic home learning.

Here are today’s learning activities:

English
Reading –

In your white KS1 English Comprehension book complete the task on page 18 (On the Farm).

Remember to write in full sentences.

Writing –

Look at the picture. Who is it? What are they like? What is happening? How do you know?

Write a description of the character based on the picture and your imagination.

Sounds-Write Phonics – suffixes/endings of words (-ment, -ness, -ful, -less)
Review Read the following Year 2 words – money, water, plant, Christmas, any, even.
Read the words: punishment, entertainment, replacement
Write the words: refreshment, statement, payment, agreement.
Dictation: There was an agreement that the refreshments would cost three pounds. The payment had to be in cash as that was the agreement.

Maths

Basic Skills: Find the missing number in these multiplication calculations.

12 =  _ x 6 5 x 5 = 9 x _ = 18 35 = 5 x _
3 x _ = 9 40 = 4 x _ 3 x _ = 21 50 = 10 x _

Challenge: What do you know notice? Can you remember any number facts to help you?

Maths Task:


Look at the coins.

Write which coins you would use to make the total.

Can you write it as a number sentence?

 

Handwriting
Warm up: Wiggle your fingers up high, down low, to the side and in front of you.
Stretch your fingers out like fireworks five times.
Can you write the following letters joined up? Remember to leave a finger space.
* ta
* ti
* to
* tu
Tick your neatest formation and be proud of your handwriting.

 

History:
Think back to your learning in Year 1.

What can you remember about ‘The Great Fire of London’?

On a blank piece of paper fill the space will everything you can remember.

You can draw, label or write sentences. It is up to you how you show your ideas.

 

PSHE/E-Safety

The internet and different types of technology have become part of our daily routines, especially at the moment.

With an adult in your home, discuss what you would do if you saw this.

    12 = 2 x 6, 5 x 5 =25, 9 x 2 =18, 35 = 5 x 7.
    3 x 3 = 9, 40 = 4 x 10, 3 x 7= 21, 50 = 10 x 5.

    Some are in two’s, five’s and ten’s.

    22p = I would use, two ten pence’s and one two pence.

    40p = I would use, two twenty pence’s.

    56p = I would use, one fifty pence, one five pence and one one pence.

    34p = I would use, one twenty pence, one ten pence, one two pence and two one pence’s

    81p = I would use, one fifty pence, one twenty pence, one ten pence and one one pence.

    History

    Thomas Farriner slept in the bakery, whilst the fire was still going. A bit of wood fell out, and started burning down London. They had knock down walls to trap the fire.

    PSHE/E-Safety

    Delete – Because you never know if it is fake.
