Maths – Friday 5th March (Zoom at 11am)

Today we will be working on an area and perimeter challenge.

First of all, what can you say about these two shapes?

What is the area of each one? What is the perimeter?

Next, look at the shapes below. What can you say about the areas and perimeters of these shapes? What do you notice?

Now have a go at the challenges below where you are comparing the areas and perimeters of the same shape.ย

Don’t forget that the area and perimeter cannot be totally the same as they use different units of measurement but they can be numerically the same (the same number).

I can say that those two shapes are The same in width.

I can say that the area is going 0 1 then 2 less so on.
The perimeter of these shapes are mostly different because they got all of the different combination so they can be a different shape kinda but it still has the same area

One is a rectangle and the other is an OCTOGAN. They are practically both rectangles but the second one has six squares rubed off
