Design and Technology – Friday 5th March

Your task today is to think of ideas for your own board game. You will mainly be thinking about the theme of the game, how it could be played, what the board might look like, what kind of pieces you could have and what the main aim of the game is.

You are not making the game yet but are just thinking of possible ideas. You can have as many ideas as you want.

The video below goes through the games looked at in last week’s lesson and talks about their themes, aims and gameplay.

Please blog or email your ideas. You can go into as much detail as you want.

Good luck designers!

My game is ‘The ultimate Space quiz’

The theme that you have a board, cards, a timer of 5min and a dice.

The way it is played that first person rolls the dice and then whichever number you get is the level. So, if I get 3, I do level 3 etc. You will have 6 boxes, e.g., 3rd box is level 3. If I get 4, I take a random card in the box and answer it by writing on a whiteboard or something than can be reused all the time. When the time ends, you check by using a answer sheet under the board. The person with the most answer corrects, gets to write their name on the leader board!

Okay so my game ideas is about who did it. Its a mystery game where you need to find out who did it. You’ll get a dice to decide how many steps to move and some paper to mark down your clues. You cannot let other people see your paper so they can work it out themselves. Once you found all the clues, your next turn will be your guessing turn where you have to guess who did it and if it is wrong, you will need a new piece of paper and find different clues. This game will be unlimited so you have as long as you need to play the game.

Any ideas on what the board would look like Hollie? How would players get clues?
