Year 1 (Home Learning) – Monday 8th February

Good Morning Year 1,

We hope that you have had a brilliant weekend and had lots of fun.

This is our final week of home learning before the half-term break … let’s really make it count!

Our theme of the week this week is enthusiasm.

The Year 1 team will be looking for children learning from home and in school that show enthusiasm this week.

Here is the CBBC’s Lockdown Learning schedule for this week:

  • The 20 minute Bitesize Daily age 5-7 sessions @ 9:00am will be an additional way of supporting the children’s learning at home.
  • We have highlighted all of the Celebrity Supply Teacher sessions, as they are an engaging way of covering all aspects of the curriculum.
  • This Tuesday is Internet Safety Day and there will be a Live Lesson to mark this @ 11:00am.

FAO: Parents & Carers

A reminder of the expectations of Home Learning:

  • There will be a daily Zoom registration @ 10:40am, during which a member of the Year 1 Team will greet the children and discuss the activities for the day ahead.
  • The expectation is for children to be on the daily Zoom registration and engaging with the set activities on our Year 1 Blog – Phonics, Literacy, Maths and a Curriculum subject.
  • Please email children’s work across to their class teacher at: yearone@lingsprimary.org.uk

Literacy

  • I can write about the relationship between Nana and Tom.
  • I can use ‘because’ to explain my ideas.

Today we are going to be looking at the relationship between Tom and Nana

Read the text from the beginning with a grown up (read up to: “I’m too old for these now Nana”).

What was the text telling us about the relationship between Tom and Nana?

Look at the picture of Tom and Nana …

What is this telling us?

What can we find out about nana and Tom from the text? How do they feel about each other?

Write a response to the above question.

The Boy……

Nana……

E.g. Nana looks at Tom lovingly and cares about him.

Tom is worried about Nana because she is cold and tired of the winter.

PSHE

This week in PSHE, we will be following a unit from Oak Academy called Lockdown Capsule.

We will be creating a lockdown capsule in school, so that the children can send their work to us and we can place it inside the box on their behalf. When we return to school, we plan to bury the lockdown capsule together in the hope that in years to come, people may discover it and find out what life was like for us during these lockdowns.

Follow this lesson from Oak Academy – To know why effective hand washing is important:

https://classroom.thenational.academy/lessons/to-know-why-effective-handwashing-is-important-cnjkac

When you are finished, you might want to send your teachers a video of you washing your hands at home.

Do you count? What song you sing? How do you know that you washed your hands for 20 seconds!
