Year 1 (Home Learning) – Monday 1st February
Welcome Back Year 1,
We hope that you have had a lovely weekend and a well-deserved rest!
Today is the first day of a new month …
Here is the CBBC’s Lockdown Learning schedule for this week:
- The 20 minute Bitesize Daily age 5-7 sessions @ 9:00am will be an additional way of supporting the children’s learning at home.
- We have highlighted all of the Celebrity Supply Teacher sessions, as a way to explore different aspects of the Curriculum.
- On Friday @ 10:15am, Horrible Histories are airing an episode on the Shakespeare – this will be great for the children to watch having just explored A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
FAO: Parents & Carers
A reminder of the expectations of Home Learning:
- There will be a daily Zoom registration @ 10:40am, during which a member of the Year 1 Team will greet the children and discuss the activities for the day ahead.
- The expectation is for children to be on the daily Zoom registration and engaging with the set activities on our Year 1 Blog – Phonics, Literacy, Maths and a Curriculum subject.
- Please email children’s work across to their class teacher at: yearone@lingsprimary.org.uk

Literacy
- I can write a series of sentences about what I think the story is going to be about.
- Challenge: I can use a ‘because’ in my sentence to explain my prediction.
Today we are going to start a brand new story.
This is the front cover …
What is the title of the book? Who is the author?
Look carefully at the front cover … what can you see? What do you think the story is going to be about? What makes you think that? Does the front cover tell us anything about the setting?
Today, we would like you to write a few sentences about what you think the story is going to be about and tell us why you think that.
Remember to use capital letters, full stops and leave spaces between words.

Watch this video:
On a piece of A4 paper, write down what recycling means in your own words.
Now you are finished with that piece of paper … but instead of throwing it away, we are going to reuse it and turn it into something new!
We would like you turn your used piece of paper into a paper aeroplane! Follow the instructions below …
For Tomorrow’s Zoom …
We are going to use these high frequency words to play a game together on Zoom!
Have an awesome day,
