Year 1 (Home Learning) – Tuesday 26th January

Hello Year 1,

Here is the CBBC’s Lockdown Learning schedule for this week:

  • The 20 minute Bitesize Daily age 5-7 sessions @ 9:00am will be an additional way of supporting the children’s learning at home – particularly as we continue our Science focus this week!
  • We have highlighted two of the Celebrity Supply Teacher sessions on Monday and Tuesday, as Darcey Bussell’s Dance lesson should be great fun and Katie Piper’s lesson will be on wellbeing.
  • On Thursday @ 10:15am, Horrible Histories are airing an episode on the Crimean War – which we mentioned briefly whilst we were learning about Mary Seacole and Edith Cavell. This will be a great way to revisit and review the children’s learning.

A reminder of the expectations of Home Learning:

  • There will be a daily Zoom registration @ 10:40am, during which a member of the Year 1 Team will greet the children and discuss the activities for the day ahead.
  • The expectation is for children to be on the daily Zoom registration and engaging with the set activities on our Year 1 Blog – Phonics, Literacy, Maths and a Curriculum subject.
  • Please email children’s work across to their class teacher at: yearone@lingsprimary.org.uk

  • I can write a speech bubble showing what Demetrius would be saying back to Helena.

Can you remember the names of the characters we looked at yesterday in Literacy and what happened in the next part of the story?

What fabulous ideas you had to change The King and Hermia’s Fathers’ minds!

Unfortunately, they would not listen and they said Hermia must marry Demetrius!

Hermia and Demetrius were so upset and in despair!

Hermia and Lysander plannedto run away that night to the magical forest

Now Hermia’s best friend wasHelen and Hermia told Helena her secret plan.

The problem wasHelena loved Demetrius and she told him what Hermia had planned to do – in the hope that Demetrius would love her instead.

Demetrius was so mad that he went to the magical forest to find them.

Helenaran after Demetrius telling him how much she loved him but he was telling her to leave him alone, as he did not love her.

Here is Miss Simons talking you through this part of the story:

Activity: Write two speech bubbles showing what Helena would be saying to Demetrius and what Demetrius would be saying back to her.

Maths

Starter:

White Rose: Understanding numbers 11-20

You may need 20 counters and 2 x 10 frames.

We understand that counters are not a common object found in most homes, so think about something else that the children could use to represent a counter, e.g. pasta, lego, coins, ect.

Please see template of 2 x 10 frames below:
