Reception home learning Tuesday 26th January
Good morning everyone
So how did you get on finding out about William Shakespeare? Lots of you have sent in some interesting facts but there is plenty of room for more. Remember we are going to be authors and write and illustrate our own book this week. So, to help you learn some more about this man here is a clip to watch to see what else you can find out. Don’t forget to send me the information for our book!

Now if we are all going to become brilliant writers like William Shakespeare we need to learn how to read and write well. And where do we do this? Yes! In phonics.

Reading
Yesterday I put up links to the Oxford Reading Owl site so hopefully these are still keeping you busy! If your child is struggling read and re-read the same book to build confidence. Here is the link to the blog page.
Literacy
So today’s job is to try and write a sentence about about William Shakespeare. You might need to ask your grown up for some help with spelling his name but try to sound out the other words yourself. If you can’t write it please try and say it out loud to your grown up. If you can write it and put it on Tapestry I will print it out and put it in our book.
Speaking and Listening
So many people said that they enjoyed Mrs Henderson’s ‘Would you rather?’ that I have found it again for you to play.
Maths
Starter – please choose the second activity – Making pairs

And for the main activity you will need the pieces of numicon cut out from the pack of resources sent home. The children should all be able to recognise the value of each piece now without counting. (If not, you could play games with them e.g. lining the pieces up, to help them to do that). Knowing the value of the pieces means that they can add two pieces together by counting on from the first piece rather than counting all of both pieces.
Physical Development
A new link to the PE lessons has been put up on the blog today with some schools games challenges.
In addition here is another fine motor skills activity you can try. If your child can hold a pencil perfectly and has neat handwriting you may not want to do these but they are still fun!
Story
Today’s story is from Mrs Whitestone. Listen to what she tells you about the book’s author. She is from Northampton where we live. Is William Shakespeare from Northampton? Do you remember where he is from?
Have a great day everyone and remember to send in your William Shakespeare facts so that I can put them in our book!
Thank you.
Hello, we don’t have numicons to use for Prince homework.
Did you have the home pack – we copied the pieces to be cut out in there?
We have a pack at school for Prince, we made them available to collect and we tried to deliver but you weren’t in, you are very welcome to collect from school, it will have the numicon in.
