Year 2 Home Learning – Friday 15th January

Good Morning Year 2

We know it’s a little bit different learning from home, but we are here if you need any help. We know you can do this!

Remember we have a zoom register at 10.20am every morning. It is important you log in to this promptly so that we can say good morning to each other, give you instructions for today’s learning, complete our Phonics lesson as well as working through our Reading and Writing activities together.

A link for this has been sent to the parent email you have registered at school. Please email us at the Year 2 email address if you need a new link sending to you.

Please bring paper and a pencil/pen to the zoom register.

Please remember to comment on the blog when you have completed your tasks, and to email us your completed work so we can see what you have been doing and support you if needed. Work can be emailed via your pupil email address (details were issued last term) or via a parents email address to yeartwo@lingsprimary.org.uk.

Have a great day and we will be waiting for you when we can all go back to school together!

Miss Duncan, Miss Battams and the rest of the Year 2 team.

Here is your home learning for today.

English – Reading

Use the poem and comprehension questions from the English resources for today.

Read the text carefully and then have a go at answering the questions. These are the comprehension question types we have to answer in Year 2.

English – Writing

Can you write your own comparison text to explain what the differences are between a magical forest and a real forest?

Your writing should include using your senses to explain what the two forests are like using the work you did earlier in the week. It should also use the word or and but to compare the two places. You should also make it as descriptive as you can by adding adjectives and expanded nouns to make it interesting and detailed.

You can use your comparison grid from Wednesday with the similarities and differences to help you as well.

Reading/Story

Miss Duncan has recorded another story for you today. Its called ‘The Frog Prince’. We hope you enjoy it.

We have an online log in which will link to some ebooks that follow our reading scheme in school. These books will allow your child to practice their phonics skills. It is a free resource.

Follow this link to log in: https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/?selLanguage=en&mode=hub

Go to Oxford Owl for Home and click on enter site.
This will give you the option to choose a book recommended for your age or you can choose a book from the colour you read at school.
These are all free to read and it would be great if you could read one to someone at home.

Remember to leave us a comment on the blog to share your learning or you can email it to me at yeartwo@lingsprimary.org.uk.

We look forward to seeing your work!

    ~English~
    Frost on the flower
    Leaf on the fond
    Snow on the field-path
    Out of the east
    A white wind comes.
    Hail on the roof top
    Kettledrums.
    Snow fog wanders
    Hollow and hills
    Along the valley
    The stream is still.
    Thunder and lighting
    Down slaps the rain.
    No doubt it.
    Summer again.
