Year 2 Home Learning – Tuesday 8th December

Hi Year 2

Today is the last day of our home learning. Tomorrow we are back in school and in our classroom.

I can’t wait to see you all and for the class to be back together again.

Here are today’s learning activities.

English – Reading

Sing along by listening and reading the lyrics on the screen. You many recognise the song from our singing assemblies when you were in Year One.

Answer the following comprehension questions.

1. What is on the roses?
2. What does the dog do?
3. Can you think of a different word to sad?
4. What do you infer is in the ‘brown paper packages tied up with string’ and why?
5. Why do you think the ‘silver white winters melt into spring’?

 

English –  Writing

We want you to stay positive and to see the happiness all around you.

Draw and write sentences about, at least four, of your favourite things and things that make you happy.

Remember to use conjunctions when telling me why they are your favourite things.

Can you use any adjectives to describe them?

 

Sounds-Write Phonics

PHONICS		Recap words (Include 2 common exception words)	New sound to be covered	Read the word – ‘say the sounds, read the word’	Build/Write the words ‘Say the sounds, write the word’	Sound swap ‘not cat ..bat’	Dictation Teacher say whole sentence and children repeat (my turn, your turn).
Tuesday		Mrs, floor because, money, beautiful, again	ey (at the end of the word- makes the ee sound)	key donkey honey valley	turkey monkey money trolley		The turkey and the monkey were trying to use their money to but honey for the donkey.

 

Maths – Basic Skills

Can you count in 5s.

Start at 0, can you get to 45?

Start at 15, can you get to 65?

 

Maths – Tasks

Watch the video and complete the tasks explained.

Then solve the ‘True or False?’ question and the worksheet problems below.

Remember to ‘prove it!’ Give we reasons why. You can draw resources to help you

 

 

Handwriting

Warm up: Wiggle your fingers up high, down low, to the side and in front of you.
Stretch your fingers out like fireworks twelve times.
Can you write the following letters joined up? Remember to leave a finger space.

Tick your neatest formation and be proud of your handwriting
