Good morning Pankhurst Class – I hope that you and your families are all well and keeping safe.
I saw some lovely chocolate wrapper designs yesterday and many of you are working very hard on your English and Maths tasks – well done.
Here are today’s tasks:
Last week we started looking at colons and semi-colons and you completed some independent work on semi-colons on Friday. I would therefore like you to focus on colons today. Here are the 2 links that you looked at last week if you need a quick reminder:
Here are some examples of colons in sentences and an explanation of how and why they have been used:
Now try this on your own:
I want you to think about the characters in the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory book. Here is a list of them if you can’t remember:
Personally, I thought that Augustus Gloop, the Oompa Loompas and Violet Beauregarde were hilarious!
I want you to create your own new character to join these on their adventures to the factory. You will need to think about the following:
- What is their name? (Often this is linked to their personality)
- How do they behave/act?
- What do they look like?
- Will their parents (or other relatives) be joining them in the factory and tell me about them too.
- What happens to them in the factory?
- How does their journey end? Do they follow the same fate as Veruca Salt or Augustus Gloop?
Please write a character profile for your new character, thinking about the above. I would absolutely love to see a picture of them if you could e mail that.
We looked at some chocolate themed word problems yesterday and I think we should have one more practice at a few more.
I’d like you to follow this Music lesson which looks at pulse and rhythm in music – let me know what you think.
Remember that if you are feeling a little anxious about anything then I am here to talk – you can e mail me if you prefer. I miss talking to you all in person but we’ll have to do the best we can for a while longer.
