Home Learning Thursday 11th June 2020

Good morning Year 2! Over half way through another week of home learning and you are doing a wonderful job! Keep sending us your work by email and leaving us comments on the blog.

Here are your home learning tasks for today. Have a tremendous Thursday!

Miss Battams and Miss Duncan.

English

Today’s lesson is looking at the four different types of sentences that we use in our reading and writing in English. This is a skill we have learnt in class previously.
Follow this link to access today’s online lesson: https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/z7b3trd

1. Watch the short video to remind yourself about the four types of sentence and how they are punctuated correctly.
2. Complete activity 1. Make sure you think about spellings and keeping your handwriting neat.

3. Complete activity 3. You can download and print the worksheets. If you can’t print the worksheets you can use the photographs below to help you complete the activity.

Maths.

Today’s lesson is all about grouping and how this links to division. This lesson builds on the learning from yesterday’s lesson and it is a skill we have practised in class previously.

Follow this link to access the online lesson: https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zhwmhg8

1. Watch the short video to remind you of grouping and how this links to division.
2. Have a go at activity 1. This is a worksheet you can either download or you can use the photograph below to help you complete the task.

3. Have a go at Activity 3. Play the Karate Cats Maths game. Have a go at Multiplication and Division as these two skill are linked. You might be able to have a go at some of the other games later. You will not be able to complete this task if you cannot access the game online, but you could have a go at writing some of your own questions about grouping and multiplication.

Phonics

We have an online log in which will link to some ebooks that follow our reading scheme in school. These books will allow your child to practice their phonics skills. It is a free resource.
Please choose a book for your child to read to you.
Click on this link and your child can choose a book to read https://connect.collins.co.uk/school/teacherlogin.aspx
You will arrive at this screen below.

Enter the following details to log in.
Username is: parents@harpercollins.co.uk The password is Parents20!
Click on this picture to see the available books.

Click on the list on the left side of the page to choose the colour book for your child. Your child should know what colour band they were on in school. If you are unsure select a blue or green book to start. Choose a lower or higher book if this is too easy or too hard for your child. Your child should be able to segment the sounds and blend them to read the words if they cannot read them by sight. Click on the book your child would like to read and it will open.

If you would like more ideas with how to support your child with phonics you can click in this link to the phonics hub. https://www.roadeenglishhub.co.uk/parents/

      Hi Zion
I hope you can see the comment and the technical issues have been fixed. .
You have been working hard and I like how you have used the full stops as a resource in your Maths.
Have a look back at your English work and check when you have used questions marks.

      Take care,
      Miss Duncan
