Year 4 Maths task- Thursday 4th June

Good morning year 4!

Today we are continuing to find fractions of amounts but this time we are looking at money. I have put the guide sheet from yesterday back up in case you need support. Comment your answers below.

Finding fractions of amounts guide

EXAMPLE: Would you rather 2/4 of £12 or 2/6 of £12?

2/4 of £12= £6

2/6 of £12= £4

Would you rather 2/4 of £12 or 2/6 of £12? I would rather have 2/4 of £12 as there is £2 more money.

Answer the questions below working out in the same way. Write the answer to each fraction problem and then which amount you would rather have:

  1. Would you rather 3/4 of £24 or 2/6 of £24?
  2. Would you rather 2/8 of £16 or or 2/4 of £16?
  3. Would you rather 3/6 of £30 or 2/3 of £30?
  4. Would you rather 3/5 of £15 or 2/3 of £15?
  5. Would you rather have 3/4 of £12 or 5/6 of £12?
