Hi Year 2

We hope you are ready for another fantastic day of home learning.

Here are today’s activities.

English – Reading

Read the text.

Can you improve it by using different imaginative adjectives instead of:

*shouted

*small

*excited

*orange.

What would you call the hamster?

 

English – Writing

Look at the picture.

Imagine that you are there.

Using your senses, what can you see, hear, and smell?

How does it make you feel?

Why do feel like that?

Why can you hear that?

 

Write your responses in full sentences and remember to use conjunctions in your writing.

 

Sounds-Write Phonics – focus sound /r/ spelling <rr>

Review – read the following Year 2 common exception words: beautiful, floor, could, water, plant, again

Read: hurry, carry, marry, scurry

Write : correct, torrent, burrito, currant

Sound swap: currant – current – corrent – torrent – torrect – correct

 

Maths – Basic Skills

Name the following shapes.

 

Maths – Task

Answer the following quiz (reasoning) style questions

 

Spellings

Practice spelling the following words.

Use the same ‘copy, copy, copy, cover word and write’ process we use in class.

Even though you are at home we want you to be as active and healthy as possible.

    ENGLISH – READING

    A New Pet

    There was a boy, called Tom who asked his mum if he could have a pet dog. But his mum said no. Because dogs were not allowed, in to the flat. A few days later, he asked his mum if he could have a kitten. His mummy replied no, because cats were still not allowed in the building. Tom was upset and and shouted saying it not fair, i cannot have a pet; because we we live in a flat. His mummy said, let me see what i can do for you Tom.
    The next day when Tom was at school, his mummy decided to surprise him. When Tom came home from school, he could see a cage on the dinner table. Tom got excited and said mummy have you got me a something, his mummy said to Tom, have a look and see what is inside the cage. When Tom looked he could see a small orange hamster, Tom was very happy and said his name will be Rusty mummy. Tom said to his mummy, thank you mummy.

    ENGLISH – WRITING

    I can see lots of fishes swimming around.
    I can hear the waves clashing.
    You can smell the salt.
    It makes me feel excited and wonderful to see all the colorful fishes.

    SOUND – WRITE PHONICS

    Corecte, torent, berito and curnt.

    MATHS – BASIC SKILLS

    Cube, Cylinder, Sphere, Cuboid, Cone, Triangle based pyramid and Triangle base prism.

    MATHS – TASK

    Kemi has more stickers than Sam. How many more? 4

    Ben has 7 bags of grapes, each bag has 10 grapes. Ben gives 25 grapes to his friends. How many grapes does he have left? 55

    Ajay’s plant was 11 centimetres tall. It grows 7 centimetres taller. How tall is the plant now? 18 centimetres.

    202 – 200 = 2
