Friday 15th May – Year 6

Writing:

Write something with the title:

The year the SATs were cancelled.

This could be a story, a diary, a newspaper article etc. The choice is yours and you can make it personal or in 3rd person. It also doesn’t have to be true. Maybe the SATs were cancelled because aliens took over the world or because David Walliams became Prime Minister and got rid of schools. Feel free to use your imagination and make it all up.

I would love to be sent these by e-mail so I can read them all share some on the blog.

Reading:

https://www.wizardingworld.com/chapters/reading-the-boy-who-lived

Have a listen to the first chapter of Harry Potter and the Philospher’s stone read by Harry Potter himself!!

Maths:

Today I would like you to design and make a math’s themed board game. This can be done for your age group, younger children or even adults and could be based around a theme i.e. word problems, shapes, time etc.

You can create in using paper and pencils or you could create it on a computer program such as PowerPoint.

ICT:

Complete at least one of the coding challenges below.

https://code.org/minecraft

Non-SATS activity:

Have a little post-SATs celebration/party.

Some ideas:

  • Play some music and have a dance
  • Eat some party food i.e. chocolate, crisps etc
  • You could even get dressed up in your party clothes.

Extra task:

Write a list of everything that you have enjoyed since lockdown

Some ideas:

  • Spending time with family
  • Learning a new skill
  • Having a lay in in the mornings

Have a lovely weekend and enjoy yourself. It doesn’t matter that we didn’t do the SATs because that doesn’t take away from the effort and hard work that you have put in this year. You have been a fantastic bunch of Year 6 children and you should feel incredibly proud of everything that you have achieved this year.

A poem for you:

Have a great weekend

Miss Kinsella and Mrs Maruzza

    What did everyone do:

Everyone panicked everyone cried but not all superheroes were capes especially not our teachers they have saved us by putting in a report to say how well we do at certain things so we need to thank them.

The year that SATs were cancelled
It all started the year 2019 and the eager yr6’s waiting for those magical papers to arrive, in the school’s post. Everyone was filled like a jug of water with fear but some, filled with excitement. But for me I was confident! Still knowing the secondary school I wanted didn’t accept me, I was felling proud I still had hope in God.

When the coronavirus was announced, everyone thought it was a joke and didn’t keep their distance like: (head of government or president, prime ministers).Doctors did everything in there power to warn us about this unfriendly virus; but we did our own thing and carried on.

The we reached February, lots of people were now very couscous and started listening. A couple of weeks passed and more people were dying of this evil virus. The public couldn’t take it anymore and started filling up 2 trollies -because they were worried they would run out of supplies and die in there homes if we went into lockdown.

Now I am in the present, yes in lockdown I am still alive (thank you God for your protection). There is nothing to worry about!

    SATs are cancelled!

This year something horrible happened. 2020 started of amazing year 6s learning and getting ready for SATs and everything was fine until A JELLY MONSTER TOOK OVER THE WORLD(this monster hated school)!!!

Because of this attack schools got destroyed and everyone had to stay home. Leaving everyone panicked. So the right decision was to cancel SATs.

        The SATs where cancelled:

        Why:
Boris one day, wasn’t felling very well so he went to the docters. The doctors said he had something that had not been descovered. Then he spred it to 5 other humans then they called it CORONA VIRUS!!!!!!!!!!

That’s part 1. I will do the rest later because I am about to go on a walk
