Today’s comprehension is about our Queen, which links well with our history unit on Chnaging Monarchy.

Take your time to read the text carefully and please remember to answer the questions in full sentences.

    1. the phrase clocked up might mean that you are turning a different age.
    2. Elizabeth ll did pantomimes in the world war.
    3. the queen learned how to drive and fix vehicles.
    4. i think the author has used a exclamation mark at the end of the opening sentence because it is amazing that the queen had passed 64 years old.
    5. i think the queen sends you telegrams because you are very old and to congratulate you.
    6. i agree with last sentence as she does have a place in history as she wanted to learn how to drive and to fix cars.

    1) Her title was “The Queen of Maritius”.
    2) Clocked up is usually found as to raise.
    3) Her name is Anna.
    4) She performed as a pantomime, she became a girl guide and started to fix vechicles.
    5) She is active as she rides a horse, she takes walkes with her dog and also takes picnics.
    6) He did as it is kind of shocking and exciting.
    7) She sends birthday messages.
    8) I do because she is a hard working Queen as all day she reads letters and is at meetings and is significant as she is the oldest and longest ruling Queen.

    1. Before Queen Elizabeth II became the Queen, her title was the Princess.
    2. Phrase ‘clocked-up’ means ‘reach’ or ‘gain’, as the Queen clocked up 64 years as a monarch, so she has already reached 64 years as a monarch.
    3. Her only daughter’s name is Anne.
    4. In 1945 she joined the Auxiliary Territorial Service where she learnt how to drive and fix vehicles. Also, she performed with Margaret in pantomimes during the 2nd World War.
    5. The Queen was always active, she loved horse riding, she joined territorial service and was able to drive cars.
    6. That’s because it’s impressive, that the Queen has been a monarch for a such long time and she broke an amazing record and counting which means is still working, can she break over 100?
    7. The Queen sends people a telegraph when they reach 100 years of age, which is a nice gesture and appreciation, to make them feel special, as they survived that long.
    8. I agree with the last statement, saying that Elizabeth II is a very hard-working Queen, She is still working at the age of 94, she attends meeting and represents country, she even reads about 300 letters a day from people.
