Year 3 – Wednesday 29th April

Good morning Year 3!

We hope you’re ready for another day of home learning tasks.

Remember we are giving out virtual certificates on Thursday to those people who stand out!

If you are having a go at the tasks on paper or in books then do let us know what you’ve completed by commenting at the bottom of the page or emails us at yearthree@lingsprimary.org.uk

Here are today’s tasks:

Writing:

Today we would like you to write a diary entry about your life whilst at home over the past week. You can include anything you would like; it is a chance to tell us what you have been doing whilst at home. You might find you want to carry this on every day so you can read it in years to come and remember what a strange time this was.

Here’s an example of what Miss Lindop has been writing in her diary:

28th April 2020

Dear Diary,
Over the last week, I have been having a very nice time working from home. The boiling hot sun has been shining, which is superb. I always remember to put my sun cream on if I am in my garden because I want to remain safe. My routine is very similar on most days and this has helped me remain happy with life in quarantine.

I wake up every morning at 7:30am with a big stretch. Once I am dressed, I make my way downstairs and have a fresh, healthy breakfast of fruit, yoghurt and bran flakes (the strawberries are my favourite!). After breakfast, I brush my teeth and set my laptop up at my desk, ready to update the blog and answer any questions.

At 9am, I pop on my trainers and get ready for Joe Wick’s tiring, sweaty PE lesson. After that, I cool down with a refreshing, icy glass of water. For the rest of the day, I sit watching all of the lovely children’s work come through on the blog or by email. It makes me very happy to see lots of amazing work.

At the end of the day, I close my laptop and cook my dinner. After dinner, I wash up all of the mucky, gross plates and head out for a walk in the evening sun. When I arrive home, I have a warm, cleansing shower then I settle down to watch some TV or play some games. When the sun has gone in, I water my vegetable patch so that they can grow big and strong.

After all of this, I head to bed so I can write in this (my diary). I have a restful, calm sleep with my teddy ‘Gino’. I cannot wait for tomorrow, I am going to be going out on my bike for my daily exercise! I hope that I can take some cool pictures for the blog!

Speak soon,

Miss Lindop

    MATHS CHALLENGE:

    1) 27 x 5 = 135
    2) 26 x 3 = 78
    3) 35 x 2 = 70
    4) 47 x 3 = 141

    SCIENCE:

In order for the pant to grow and survive it needs food, water and sunlight. The roots absorb all the nutrients from the soil and travel all the way up, right through the stem up until they reach the flowers. The plant catches the sunlight through its leaves and absorbs CO2 to give us back fresh and clean air.

    Dear Diary,
In this quarantine, I have had a great time at home with my family

On weekdays I wake up at any time (unless it’s early) and because of my dad, I have to straight downstairs (to do school work).
At 11:00 I finally get to eat some yummy Corn Flakes. Then at 12:00 or 1:00, I get to have a little break After I play video games for the rest of the afternoon. In the evening I sprint downstairs for dinner. Then in the night, I have a good night’s sleep.

    Maths:
    (this is a made-up one)
    2/10 + 9/10 = 11/10 = 1.1

Plants need food, water, sunlight and soil to grow. They are rooted in the soil. Roots suck in the water and transfer the nutrients to stem and leaves. Flowers moves are very nice to watch but you need a special camera to see it. Flowers also need air and CO2 to grow.
